AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 662) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | November 13, 2002 | All of Us

Posted on 11/13/2002 4:17:12 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

United States authorities have confirmed the voice on the tape claiming responsibility for the Bali bombings is indeed The Evil One.

Officials from 30 states have agreed to simplify their taxing structure and collect sales tax from online purchases. The proposal is to take effect once the 10 largest states with 20% of America's population have adopted single sale tax rates in their jurisdictions. The states also intend to ask Congress for a mandatory online sales tax regimen.

Republicans are expected to push for a total ban on human cloning early next year. The House has already passed such legislation, but it stalled in the Senate.

The total count of tornadoes in the Veterans Day Outbreak has been increased from 69 to 88, and the number is likely to climb as Local Storm Reports (a National Weather Service telex document) and surveys are reviewed.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Good idea on the canned food. If push comes to shove, and there isn't any power at your home, you can eat the food right out of the can without heating. I have a variety of canned food and fruit in pantry so I don't get bored if there is ever an emergency.

Time magazine - By complying with the UN resolution, Saddam could certainly make life difficult for Washington hawks set on an invasion to achieve regime change in Iraq — and strengthen the hand of those in the U.S., Europe and the Arab world opposed to war.

Further --

The neo-conservative flagship Weekly Standard warns that absent any self-destructive instinct on Saddam's part, even 100 days from now the most likely outcome of the renewed inspection program will be sufficiently ambiguous to simply make a case for giving the inspectors even more time, further dissipating Washington's regime-change momentum.

Man, the leftist anti-America crowd doesn't waste any time.

Time magazine

Sometimes I think about how nice it would be to see this rag go out of business. Then I think about the American way, and how we need the dissenting view to be able to take a stand against it.

It is what I said...the LIST is what is going to do them in, because we have our own list. In addition, we have eyes everywhere and if they move things, or if they have moved things in the last couple of months, we have photos of where things were moved to.

I don't disagree, but understand that Saddam isn't listening to a single word being said out of the Administration (not that they shouldn't, they do so at their own peril, but they aren't - because that is not their strategy).

We can safely presume Saddam doesn't want to give up his WMDs. We want him to. We have reached that binary point where it either is, or isn't. So there's no use in having any further conversation. Saddam's not dumb - he knows this.

He also knows his ONLY hope is circumvent the Administration and play to other elements in the hope the din will either change the subject (best case - he'd like to change it to a nullification of the 1991 cease fire terms), or at least string out the issue until people grow tired of it.

Saddam realizes his bread is not buttered in Washington. He is playing to Paris and Beijing. He will use the next month to make it appear that he wants to comply but for this or that reason (he'll probably tie it to the sanctions regime) he cannot proceed as fast as he would like (that cooperation thing again).

Be mindful that neither France nor China want us to go to war with Iraq. (The list included Russia until the theater incident.) The 15-0 vote masquarades that, but those two countries voted for the resolution with the full knowledge (it didn't take rocket science to figure out the conclusion) that Saddam would accept the resolution, thus pushing war off at least until early December, if not later.

The job of this President - and he seems to understand that from some recent rhetoric - is to continue the drumbeat of decoupling our actions from the UN.

This reminds me of my nephew the art teacher's first Christmas party. He had moved into a newly-purchased home, and invited all of the staff and faculty and their spouses to a Christmas party. The previous year the school Christmas party had had about 25% attendance.

However, my nephew didn't count on the fact that:

A. It was at his home instead of a restaurant where they had to pay for dinner.

B. Everyone at the school likes him.

C. Everyone wanted to see his home and his personal art collection.

EVERY SINGLE PERSON CAME! LOL!

Oh, I see what you are saying. However, I am thinking that we will have that long-desired Adlai Stevenson moment in the UN, where our Ambassador displays blown-up photos on an easel, explaining why Iraq is in material breach.

Meanwhile, bombs will be raining down on Baghdad.

Also, I do not think Russia has been as reluctant its public persona indicated. Russians still move freely about Iraq (or at least they did recently) and it would be in our interest and Russia's to still have eyes in that country. Remember, Putin was KGB, and is very good at intelligence.

Syria probably is trying to avoid getting targetted next.

But isn't it funny how teenagers will take whatever goes wrong and think it is directed personally at them. And it ruins their lives, well, at least it ruins their lives for a few hours. :)

Remember, Putin was KGB, and is very good at intelligence.

And the Russians were making lots of rubles out of trade with Baghdad. Still are.
