In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
enervate \EN-ur-vayt\, verb:
To deprive of nerve, force, or strength; to weaken; to impair the moral powers of.
Etymology: Enervate is from Latin enervatus, from enervo, enervare, to to remove the sinews from, hence to weaken, from e-, ex-, from + nervus , sinew.

I understand you can have one eye for far vision and one eye for close vision. Ah. I'd wondered how they did that.
(LOL. Reminds me of my stepfather and his fellow commuter. Each had one eye; they said when one drove they had great peripheral vision, the other tunnel vision...)

I had to get a very, very wide reading section. Couldn't use the no-lines version at all. I tried the graduated bifocals too, but like you I needed a wider field. (In my committee meetings I frequently have the laptop in front of me, with documents on the table both sides, and I need to go back & forth quickly.) Regular bifocals work for me (but people still wonder: I'm wearing glasses but I print my documents 2-up -- I used to do 4-up but it's a bit of effort now).
There's a term for the really wide field of view, but I've forgotten it.

I am trying to avoid the bifocals! The doc keeps bringing them up, but that would really depress me. I understand! I got my 1st glasses (bifocals) and turned 50 in a short space of time. Depressing. But it was all offset by being able to read comfortably and to see things in the distance as sharp as they once were.
It was interesting, though... it took people quite a while to notice. But then I got really narrow frames, wire underneath, so they don't stand out. )

the guy across the street from me flew to VANCOUVER a few years back to have it done! no family or friends there, there must be a place that offers a deal with a hotel and shuttle service etc. i thought that was extreme!
