True. But it misses a point.
The math.
The evening started with 14 governorships not up for election. Of these 8 were demoflop, 6 were pubbie. This, of course, means there are 36 races that are in competition. It also means we started the night two in the hole, so to speak.
When the dust cleared, of the races that had been decided, the GOP had won 20 of those 36 races, or 55.5% of the contests in which they fought. (This calculation does not include Vermont, which looks like a GOP victory.)
So, even spotting the demoflops two governor slots (call it election affirmative action - they'd love that!), the GOP STILL ends up with a majority of the state houses.
The math favored the demoflops, and they couldn't capitalize!
