My sister had to give insulin shots to her mini poodle twice a day. It's not pleasant, but doable. You'll learn all the tricks. Her dog had a wonderful life for five more years after diagnosed. Albeit, he bit her in the face one time while she was giving him the shot. She only had about five stitches, though.

Slip your support is second to none. Nice touch mentioning the dog bite.

You remind me of my Ortho surgeon after my first rotator cuff surgery. I awoke, kind of, in the recovery room and he was standing over me and as soon as I opened my eyes, he got this sullen look on his face, addressed me by my first name and said, "It was a lot worse than we ever expected".

Even in my stupified, drug induced state, I accused him of skipping Bedside Manner 101 while attending med school.
