There are three major things that affect campaigns.
1. Numbers game. A certain population is dem or GOP. This is the handicap that the other party needs to overcome. For example, Dems have trouble in Nebraska, and the GOP has trouble in Rhode Island.
2. Campaign organization. This was Gore's ace in the hole in 2000. Organized campaigns win. Campaigns in disarray lose.(Taylor)
3. Work ethic. Who works harderst and smartest usually wins. That means hitting below the belt. That means working 24/7. Engler was a master here.
