In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
vituperate\vy-TOO-puh-rate\, verb:
To find fault with; to scold; to overwhelm with wordy abuse; to censure severely or abusively; to rate.
The incensed priests...
continued to raise their voices,
vituperating each other in bad Latin.
--Sir Walter Scott, Ivanhoe Etymology: Vituperate comes from Latin vitupero, vituperare, to scold, blame, censure.

Oh, my gosh, xs.
I am just wondering how did he not get through to the hot line people. Does he have to tack messages on a tree to get to them? What the heck is going on?
My prayers are still out for you and yours. It's got to be a frightening time right now.

i am sure that the lines are jammed with calls and i suppose it is not surprising that he could not get through, but the fact that he announced to the call taker that he WAS GOD, and IN CHARGE, sounds like maybe she should have taken him seriously. Unless there are many prank calls, which is also a possibility i guess.

There are always prank calls. That's the problem. I think Mr. Moose is doing the best he can do, but this has gotten out of hand.

i know there is criticism galore of Chief Moose, but i feel bad for the guy. i don't think he is calling the shots, he is the front man, taking the media hits etc. and possibly the sniper's ire, and i doubt he is sleeping much these days. i think he probably needs a hug!

How do you ride that thing ... and what do you hold on to when you ride it when you have a partner? ( With chaps, leathers and thongs ... You know, motorcycle style? Maybe we should check with Sea on that) ?Well, since we are riding motorcycle style, Robert, I can only assume that I would have to hold onto whatever was sticking out the most.........
What do you think?

"I have heard the accusation for the last time. I will no longer stand ideally by and accept the P.C definition for being in disagreement. I will no longer stand for this concept of open-mindedness and closed mindedness. It seems that lately the immediate response to any conflict in opinion is the accusation Youre so closed-minded or Why dont you be open-minded about this! This concept of dont have an opinion has resulted in the apathetic views of the people in America today. The leftists, who are most commonly heard uttering the previously mentioned accusations, are the same people who have been preaching the beauty of difference in our society.
I agree what has made this country great is the fact that we are not all the same. Unfortunately, this isnt what the liberals really want. Their desire is for a society of open-minded individuals who can neither form an opinion nor in any way disagree with anyone. To be closed-minded is to refuse to even hear your argument. Well I have heard your argument. I have done the research. I have already formed an opinion. I heard your side. I am not being closed-minded. I just dont agree with you. That is being strong minded, as opposed to the idea that I will take everything I hear and accept it without question. This is not open-minded. This is week minded. And that seems to be exactly what some of these people want.
There are a few animals that I can name that are or were notoriously open-minded. Sheep are open-minded. They are very easy lead animals that dont fight are rarely stubborn and generally just go with the flow. They have learned that to disagree or put up any fight is more trouble than it is worth. The accusation of being closed minded is the scolding that follows just about any type of conflicting opinion when debating with a liberal. People who leave their houses open, tend to get robbed, I have noticed the same is true with people who leave their mind open. Their brains are stolen.
I guess his response hurt the poor ladies feeling and since we were discussing Gun Control she cried to the professor about our viciousness. She said she feared for her life and thought I was a raving lunatic who was going to kill the whole class with an evil gun. The faceless professor sent me an email (wouldnt want face to face confrontation) telling me to the stop being a meanie. We replied with the 1st Amendment, so he reported me to the Student Affairs Office telling them that students are fearing for their life and that I should be suspended or even expelled.
Thankfully the Student Affairs lady was on my side. She told me she saw nothing in the posting to warrant any concern and was impressed with our educated, well-informed articulate responses.
I hear you talk about the screwed up University system all the time but it wasnt until I decided to go through my old files that I remembered this little incident. Thought youd like to hear that there are some educated students out there."
While the lady addresses said she felt fear from this vituperative screed the university thought differently.
