We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
UOx42 was invited to give a speech to the British Labour Party. He did. In it he warned that innocent people would die in a war with Iraq, and called upon the British Premier to restraint the hawks in the White House.
Algore gave his economic speech yesterday. Afterwards, he was asked why he wasn't wearing his wedding ring. He pointed out he had gained so much weight that on an occassion he took it off, he couldn't get it back on. Tipper quickly pointed out she was still wearing her ring. Algore said he needed to watch his diet more.
The Shoe Bomber has opted to plead guilty to all eight counts facing him.
In Jefferson county, Colorado, you will soon be required to give your fingerprint on an electronic sensor to use a credit card or cash a check.
The taping scandal in Iowa is beginning to get somewhere with voters - Sen. Harkin is having an increasingly difficult time with his re-election campaign.
And Reps McDermott and Bonior are trying to defend their foray into Iraq, saying it was important to let the American people understand the risks they face if they go to war.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

A.M. TO ALL FROM THE MS GULF COAST, UDA!!!!
The storm is slowing down, not bad here on the coast at all, some tidal surge but little wind, rain not too bad, everything is going to be fine.
Then there is Kyle, I see him sitting off the east coast, lost, rambling around like he is saying 'I know I can, I know I can', kinda reminds me of the democracts, lost at sea, searching, can't find where to go, rambling around.
Looks like the 'Stoogies of Badhdad' has got a lot of folks mad at them in congress, one of their own, spouting off at the mouth, but have you noticed the missing of one of them? He is not saying anything, wonder what he is thinking about now.
On my street are gobs of republicans, save one, a democract, in fact he even looks like one. WE were all cutting our lawns at the same time yesterday and got into a conversation. I was surprised that HE made the statement that what was done in NJ was wrong, not fair at all. He talked bad about his party and REALLY bad mouthed little tommy d. There is hope my friends for this fellow, at least all this has him thinking. Oh yeah, he like President W, said he was honest, sincere AND was not like the 'last one' (Zipper).
Prayers for all with special needs, for the sick and injured, for OUR President W. Without saying, for the elderly, blue blooded to the core, loving sweeter than sugar. Have a good day.

You are so right, I also am a firm believer that times are catching up with us. Thank you my friend.

Lili has arrived. We've had some gusts up to about 65 mph, and the rain is coming down in sheets. That's me hiding under the I-10 marker between Lake Charles and Baton Rouge.

Thanks for all the reading material!! Just getting up here in Arizona. Good to see that Lili has been downgraded, but it still looks like its pretty nasty in Lafayette where my family is...

When I read At Any Cost, I was SO angry! Looks like this one won't have the same effect! :o)
Is there any update this morning on taking the NJSC (the law doesn't matter) decision to the USSC? I haven't heard anything new.....

I have heard no more this morning. Fox is mostly covering the hurricane.
I piinged you to the thread. Apparently Amazon and Barnes and Noble have it on line. I am going to call Borders when they open and see if they have it.

Thanks for the editorials links on SCONJ (skunk?)
I'm amazed by the rhetoric about Torrecelli. The press skips through his muck like it's a field of daisies. "Ethical violations"? Hell. How 'bout "thief"? Or "mobster?" Or "criminal"? Instead, we get "questionable ethics." How lame.
I'm no political operative, and I'll leave it to the Tator to say, but I'd be inclined to keep the NJ Senate race focussed on the Torch.
I'd ignore the Court ruling. (And set the lawyers to it like dogs.) Instead, I'd point to Torrecelli. And I'd turn up the volume. I'd move into harsh language and name calling. I'd find outrages everywhere, new ones, old ones, imagined ones. I'd talk about Nixon, and Rockefeller, and Boss Tweed. I'd accuse the Torch of McCarthyism. I'd say he eats children. I'd look up a DNC playbook and read it verbatum, merely exchanging "Bush" for "Torch."
Also, I'd completely ignore Lautenberg, act as if he's not even there. "Oh, him? He's just a nice old man trying to help a friend. Isn't that sweet. Give him a cookie and a glass of milk."
Well, that's what I'd do.

Yeah, I've had Fox on, and haven't seen anything at all except hurricane coverage (Thank You, Lord that it weakened before it hit land!)
I know that they were supposed to file this morning with the USSC.
I guess I missed your ping. Was that yesterday? Because I was out most of the day (I teach classes until 9:00, and since the evening one is new, I spend much time in preparation for it).
I'll check out Barnes & Noble when I'm out today. Otherwise, I'll get it from Amazon. Thanks for the info!

Its not too bad at all over here one the coast, no hi winds, not much rain (yet), Hiway 90 flooded in spots, lots of storm serge, lucky, just real lucky.
To: Miss Marple
Guess we will hear another academy award speech (more like a Mad award) from little tommy d., not fair, low blow, shame on him, reason Senators can't work together, you know, the 'done me wrong song'.

Hope all have been well in my 2 month absence. I have been traveling with Mr Jhenn. Started in Vegas for 5 days. It was too long! We then proceeded to son's graduation at Great Lakes over Labor Day weekend. I was so proud!! He was able to start in the Nuke program in the EM program which he wanted. He is all grown up now. It was so fast!! Only yesterday I was telling him to PLEASE clean up his room!
Mr. Jhenn and I moved on to Philadelphia (where my husband and I have an apartment). For the first time I have been able to study and spend the time following the foundation of this great nation. I have been walking the history of the different streets, reading the biographies of the early signers and enjoying the uninterrupted time it truly takes.
My sister and I took a side trip to Boston to understand the influence of the American Revolution. (Had to watch my tongue on the Kennedy influence in later years. Luckily, sister kept reminding me that I may be overheard).
I wish I had paid closer attention when I was young as to the sacrifices our forefathers made to this great country. I wish our teachers had spent more time on our history. It is so overwhelming.
Sister and I passed on NYC theatre trip to continue lessons in Philly. It has been great listening to the locals talk of "Torches" troubles. How I pray he "Loud" is not put on the ballot.
Now that temps are down I shall return to AZ next week.
We will prepare for Thanksgiving and Christmas there. Son is coming home for 2 weeks over Christmas. What a celebration we will have.
Prayer to Gulf Coast and all others in path of Lili. Please take care of yourselves and God's blessings to each of you.

Remember how we were talking about Schadenfreude last night?
One of the most liberal teachers I had in high school, (she used to teach "Unified Studies" which in the seventies was what the teachers union substituted for history) now works at my local Borders. When I called to ask about the Sammon book, she answered the phone! She said, "Hmmmmm, I think we have that book, let me check......."
I have a feeling that I'm going to need to do some re-arranging of the displays, when I get there today! LOL!
