actually in this area, it's "put up or shut up", ok, so it's 3 different smart brothers being defamed. NE printed ed, tom, and dave were, ...well you know,, involved shall we say. as far as the disappearance of any mention of this business? it's been taken care of quietly, if you haven't noticed.

Exactly. Sounds like the NE's local counsel, or American Media Enterprise's (isn't that the parent co. name?) counsel, and/or the storeowners, heard from a lawyer threatening a lawsuit. Whoever "publishes" defamation can possibly be sued. Pulish in this case = spread it around.
