Did you see any published account that people were upset about not being able to get that issue of the NE? Have you talked to anybody from Salt Lake who told you of some great injustice here? No. Does it matter? The point is, the publications were pulled.

"What color is the sky in your world?"
It depends if I have on my ROSE colored glasses.....

If they are fabricating, it will show. If they are telling the truth...It will be consistent.

"I've felt for sometime that this was a kidnapping for ransom that just didn't work out for the perp."sandude, maybe you can explain this to me.....you're good with logic. If someone had wanted to kidnap Elizabeth for ransom, why would they have chosen this incredibly risky M.O.? Why not grab her from school, from a harp lesson, from her jogging route, etc.?
"My very first thoughts on the case were that Ed owed money to some nasty characters and that they were holding Elizabeth until he made good on his loans. I gave up on that idea after the FBI found no evidence supporting it."
Here's where I REALLY hope you can help me out.....where is the source containing statements from the FBI on what they have or haven't found in this case?? I've been very curious to know what the FBI has been up to, but I haven't seen them tip their hand on anything yet. Can you direct me to some info?

"If there is ever any evidence of their implication then I'll join up with you Smart haters."
Here's a term that I would really like to see put to rest on this thread. Who are these supposed "Smart haters," sandude? Do you include anyone who has questions about the Smart family's behavior during this widely publicized saga? Anyone who has voiced the feeling that the Smarts are not telling all that they know? Since when does that constitute "hate"? Many of us on this thread do have questions, but not many of us see things in exactly the same way. Why the need to lump everyone together under such a nasty term as "Smart haters"? It's not only inaccurate......it's offensive. Would you care to list those posters whom you are calling "Smart haters" and provide documentation for their inclusion in the group? Or would you rather just drop the term?

I have been reading the ongoing dialogue on the Salt Lake Tribune. Here comes my two cents worth.
I don't put alot of stock in the printed word of newspapers. I have had several occassions when I was involved directly in a story and the details were wrong and the quotes were wrong. I have yet to be in one that was totally accurate.
I have found that writer of such an article can skew things the way they want. Also, somtimes they just plain misquote a person and give a wrong impression.
Having said that I don't think the article can be taken word for word as accurate.
That is why I like the live interview and transcripts from those type of shows much better.
But it did give some interesting things for us to talk and read about!

And modest, too.

Would you care to list those posters whom you are calling "Smart haters" and provide documentation for their inclusion in the group? Or would you rather just drop the term?I actually, truthfully, feel sorry for sandude. It seems when something new comes along, such as that article in the SLCT, and people take it line by line and comment on it (because there is so much there) the term "Smart haters" comes into play.
HATE is a very strong word. And using it, as a put down, and name calling is soooo 7th grade.
Come on, dude..you are better than that.

What makes you so sure they were right?
To: Neenah
Silly Neenah! Actually I'm here round the clock--did you forget about my many aliases?
To: freedox
In my opinion, Palladin is a Smart-hater, judging by the tone (gleeful, spiteful) of many of her posts regarding the allegations of homosexual escort services and "the Smart Brothers Sex Diary," as she calls it.
Varina seems disgusted at, and scornful of the Smarts.
I could go back and get the posts that caused me to reach these conclusions, if you want. It would be kind of silly, though. You can read as well as I, and I think you could be honest with yourself--even if you would try very hard not to publicly say anything about your buddies "hating" anyone.
To: freedox
Heh-heh! And always at someone else's expense. :)
To: Neenah
You feel sorry for Sandude?
I actually, truthfully admire Sandude.
Time for you to look in the mirror, Neenah, my friend.

But, but...wouldn't that be called libel???
And, and...wouldn't that constitute sandude's remark as being..."Smart Haters" ?
LIBEL
A false publication, as in writing, print, signs, or pictures, that damages a person's reputation. The act of presenting such material to the public.

There's this thing called
OPINION, Neenah.
Why are you being threatening towards Sandude? B/C in my OPINION, that's what you are doing. Is it your intention to bully off this thread everyone who doesn't agree with you?? Why? Where would the fun be then?
Duck, here come the BIG FONTS!!
It was nice of you to pat Lakey on the head a few comments back, BTW.
You're going to need more than just the dictionary definition to figure out this "libel" stuff, b/c a good piece of Freerepublic seems to come under your definition. And that's not correct.
To: Devil_Anse
Whew!! For a minute there I was afraid that I had accidentally posted my comments on the "Smart haters" to YOU!!! I checked back, though.....I see it was properly addressed to sandude. I trust that he will take it in the spirit in which it was intended. Thanks for your comments, anyway.

Jandji has never, to my knowledge, believed a single solitary word that came out of any of the mouths of anyone in Elizabeth's family.
Gee, but I guess that doesn't quite come up to hating them. Seems so close, though...
Just a feeling I got.
To: freedox
What's your point? That we aren't allowed to respond to posts directed to someone else?
Gosh, sorry. I'm a newbie, just trying to learn all the rules!
