In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

eleemosynary \el-e-MOS-i-ner-ee; el-ee-uh-MOS-i-ner-ee\, adjective:
eleemosynary, noun
eleemosynaries, plural

1. Relating to charity, alms, or alms-giving; intended for the distribution of charity; as, ``an eleemosynary corporation.''
2. Given in charity or alms; having the nature of alms; as, ``eleemosynary assistance''
3. Supported by charity; as, ``eleemosynary poor.''

``It is noteworthy that the heyday of laissez-faire, the middle and late nineteenth century in Britain and the United States, saw an extraordinary proliferation of private eleemosynary organizations and institutions.'' --Milton Friedman, Capitalism and Freedom

Etymology: The source of eleemosynary is Medieval Latin eleemosynarius, from Late Latin eleemosyna, alms, from Greek eleemosyne, from eleemon, pitiful, from eleos, pity.

Whilst watching a movie with my sister in Tahoe last week, I took out the knitting. I'm knitting an afghan (oh, that now sounds horrid). Anyway, I knit (knitted?) a whole row of 150 stitches backwards. I laughed myself sick.

Actually, it's more fun later if you knit lace all around the crochet parts ....

There's more holes that way ... and much less knitting to do.

yep, that is what xs is for. i have so much less time for it these days, but i do enjoy it. Have it all over the walls. my family room has a bee theme. i found a needlepoint canvas with a huge hive on it that i bought to do. xsbrownie was with me and she is aware that daddy can NEVER KNOW how much i paid for that thing. needlepoint is much more expensive than xs.
