Various News Sources and FReepers | September 21, 2002 | All of Us

Posted on 09/21/2002 1:32:30 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail [President Bush]

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

Chancellor Schroder apologized to the US for the Hitler comparison. No word as to whether the German minister who made the remarks lost her job.

Tornadoes raked across Indiana yesterday afternoon as part of a severe weather front moving eastward.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Is the class a PASS/FAIL? Many of my students who are ESOL students also, are petrified of speaking in front of the class. I hacve them write a business letter (they pick the type of letter) and then discuss it in front of the class. They answer the questions pertinent to letter writing for business. It counts as in class + homework credit.

You seem to be enjoying the teaching more than the driving.

See my comment at #59 on the thread you linked.

While it is nice they were fined, the current level of fines discourages behavior not a wit.

It is roughly receiving a "delay of game" penalty. One would rather not get flagged, but it is rarely a difficult thing to overcome.

I would like thank you all for the prayers....there is no doubt in my mind that God heard them. I think that between the boys' school, the church we go to, Fr. John, you guys here at ATRW, my friends on the hurricane websites, and all of the other people praying for him, God must have taken that into consideration when deciding what His plan would be. :-) Yesterday afternoon at around 5pm I was getting very nervous because I hadn't heard from them yet. By the time 6:00pm rolled around and still no word, my imagination was running wild....I was positive that it was bad news and that my Mom and Dad were composing themselves so they could tell us he was not gonna make it. Then I thought to myself, "What if my parents called Brian and told him the prognosis was not good and they wanted to wait until he was home to tell me?????" Then I remembered a book I have called, "How to Get It Together When Your World is Falling Apart....so I picked it up and starting reading it. Amazingly enough, I just happened to open the book about 1/2 way through and I came across this inspirational message on the last page in the chapter called: "The Solution to All Your Fears. It was written by Albert W. Palmer and it goes like this:

"All this day I am going to be a child of God. His love is round about me. Underneath are the everlasting arms. I am going to be honest and true in all events of life and I believe that to those who love God all things work together for good. I am going to rise above worry, fretting, fear and hatred, and live in an atmosphere of spiritual serenity. Behind all that comes, God's love and wisdom will be present to strengthen and sustain."

I read that out loud so I could hear myself say it and believe it, and the butterflies were gone (by this point they were no longer butterflies in my stomach, they were penguins), my hands stopped shaking and I felt such a presence of peace and serenity like I never had before. My Mom called 5 or 6 minutes later. :-)

We did not tell the boys that PopPop was sick because up until yesterday, we just didn't know what was going to happen. I felt kind of guilty keeping it from them, so I talked to Mr. Bill, the guidance counselor at their school. He said there was no reason to tell them anything yet, since we didn't know what was going on and what the outcome would be...and Fr. John said the same thing. They both said, "IF it's not good, then we'll help you get them through this...if not, there's no point in giving specific details, all you have to say is that Pop is sick and he's on medicine to get him better. There is no point in enveloping them in fear when we don't know. If you think YOU are having a hard time with it as an ADULT, just imagine how an 8yr-old and a 6yr-old would handle this." So we didn't tell them.

As for the emotional roller coaster? I've hit all the peaks and valleys that are out there..so now I am going to go lay down and rest. :-) Deej

I think I picked up something on the flight. I've got a scratchy throat, cough, fever, headache, etc. Bletch. I don't need this. I am working on a hot toddy to try to knock it out. I may not be around much today, but I'm NOT going to sleep until time to go to bed. I'm really not. Regardless of what the couch says. And it's calling me. lol.

"I fell asleep on my stand last year. (Don't tell anyone...) "

One of the guys my hubby works with did that once. Fell out of the stand and broke both his arms.

Ouch.
