Jeepers, I knew you were in Tejas, but, being from Idaho, thought there might at least be some hint of Fall. Shoot, when footballs are in the air, the leaves should be falling and there should be at least some hint of a season change...no?

A book you should read about high school football in Texas is, "Friday Night Lights", I can't remember the author, but it is a too exact discription of the importance of football in Texas.
When I was a football ref, I was always amazed at the game fees Texas refs received. They were getting over $100 for a game while, in Nevada and Idaho we were lucky to get $35. I got up to the $100 range, but that was because they started paying travel time and I was getting calls to do games in the bigger cities in southern Idaho....the fee included travel mileage. The atheletic departments don't know this...but I would have payed them to work the big games. What fun that was!
