Just as in Philadelphia, the Elian Gonzalez case in Miami dealt with child custody. The irrational ones in that instance were the anti-communist Cuban-Americans who felt Elian should remain in the United States rather than go to his father in Cuba.

AAACK!!!!!! Anti-communism is not an irrational thought process. It is the only stance that makes sense. There are no meaningful parental rights in Cuba! Elian was sent back to to CASTRO - not to his father! He was sent into slavery and away from freedom.
