Before you start popping corks, keep in mind the once referred to "mainstream media" will do everything possible to save little tommy's patootie. It ain't over 'til it's over.

This is scary... EDS is about to farm out another group of Hi-tech jobs to India.

EDS to buy Procter&Gamble technology operations
September 18, 2002 6:07:00 PM ET

By Siobhan Kennedy

NEW YORK, Sept 18 (Reuters) - Electronic Data Systems Corp. (EDS) on Thursday will announce a deal to buy the business technology operations of Procter & Gamble Co (PG) and manage them in a ten-year, $8 billion contract, sources close to the deal said on Wednesday.

EDS declined to comment.

That announcement would come after EDS slashed its earnings forecasts on Wednesday due to few service contracts and an unwillingness by companies to spend on technology. That news sparked a nearly one-third drop in EDS stock in after-hours trading to $24.80 -- its lowest level in more than a decade.

EDS had pulled out of talks with Procter & Gamble in July, saying it failed to agree on a price for the unit, which runs the U.S. consumer goods giant's back-office operations, such as payroll and benefits.

At the time, that left EDS rival Affiliated Computer Services Inc. (ACS) as the exclusive bidder for the contract. But on Tuesday, ACS said it also pulled the plug on the deal because it couldn't settle on a price for the division. It also said the "operational and cultural risks were too high."

Under the contract, Procter & Gamble wants to sell the technology operations that are used to run its global business processes, such as staff payroll, accounts payable and pensions. Once it has sold the unit, P&G will farm out the management of those operations to the successful buyer.

So-called business process outsourcing, or BPO, is one of the hot sectors in the computer services sector right now. Analysts estimate the $180 billion BPO market is expected to grow at a 10 percent to 12 percent annual rate over the next five years.

ACS is one of the leaders in the market for business process outsourcing, with 70 percent of its business coming from those types of lucrative contracts.

EDS and other services companies, most notably International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) and Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC), are trying to make a bigger push into this business. Right now the majority of their revenue comes from technology outsourcing, where a services company takes over the computer and server operations of an organization and runs them remotely on their behalf.

As part of the deal, between 5,700 and 7,000 P&G employees will transfer to EDS. REUTERS

You got that right! I don't see any Republican leadership in Congress. They better not rely on Bush coat tails in November.

I understand your fears.

We all lived with them for over 8 long years.

But the tide has turned. You could see it weeks ago when the Dems demanded that W "make the case" or stated that "He hadn't made the case". It was done in the usual lockstep, goosestep mode of the clintons and their DNC.

They made a huge error. Huge. Frickin Huge!

And for 8 long years we all thought they were genius politicians.

Their arrogance and over confidence has screwed them.

Doesn't mean we stop working hard for their demise. It means we have to work even harder and really stick it to them.

Just got this in my email:

This was written by a black guy in Texas.......
what a great sense of humor!!

When I born, I black.
When I grow up, I black.
When I go in sun, I black.
When I cold, I black.
When I scared, I black.
When I sick, I black.
And when I die, I still black.

You white folks......
When you born, you pink.
When you grow up, you white.
When you go in sun, you red.
When you cold, you blue.
When you scared you yellow.
When you sick, you green.
When you bruised you purple.
And when you die, you gray.
So who you callin' colored!!!!!

I have to agree with you, the dems look as pathetic as I have ever seen them in recent history...the clinton legacy is written, with the help of a stained Gap dress and his sycophants being soundly thumped in the election booth. My big worry is, as OCC mentioned, the lack of Republican leadership in the Senate and House. I just don't see anyone in the 'good ol boy' club willing to step up and take the heat.

Saw Newt Gingrich tonight on FOX and couldn't help but lament the lost opportunity there. The guy had all the intellectual capability in the world but just couldn't get past the personal failures. Oh well, glad I'm not exposed to that kind of microscope...even though I am as pure as the driven snow...burp.

Did y'all happen to hear Pat Robertson on Hannity and Colmes tonight? Pat was saying "liberals lie." Alan of course, took exception to that and asked him what Jesus woild think of his statement. Pat pointed out times that Jesus himself had called people on their lying. Then Alan said that it wasn't very Christian of him (Pat) to say that. Pat said, it might not be very Chhristian but it is the truth. LOL! It was funny.

The Contract With America in 1994 was a political A-bomb for the democrats (with a little help from billy jeff). WHY don't they bring some new ideas back? The Pubs have been coasting since 1996.. and I am dissapointed. All the promising up and comers are leaving.

I'll never understand it...the Pubs are basically lousy politicians, we have poor leadership with an attitude of "lets just get along." I have been somewhat surprised at the political ability of President Bush...he dings me off with some of his "conservative" policy stands, but for whatever reason, he seems to have the demos pretty much on the defensive.

I think the demos suffer from the same thing you mentioned about the pubs...the energetic ones get a belly full of the crap that goes on in Washington and bail out, leaving the likes of Dasshole, Gebhardt, and the rest of the sorry bunch. We have the Trent Lotts and Dennis whats-his-name standing around with their thumbs in their bums waiting for someone to tell them which way is up. The whole thing makes me want another glass, (bottle) of wine.

. . .so some other threads are still trying to self-destruct?

The Westerfield threads seem to have been pretty divisive. There's got to be some nicked up feelings over that episode. I'm glad I was smart enough to keep my mouth shut . . .

BTW, have I ever told you that you're one of my heroes? My wife has told me many good things about you. I'd love to have you autograph my boat! *grin*

My friend Steve, with a "good eater" . . .
