I was a nanny for a family in Manhattan. The wife was from Nevada, so she knew there was civilization out West. But her friends were convinced that civilization ended in Chicago, and that we all out West lived with the sheep and the Indians. And I was a novelty because I came from a family of TEN children. We were just poor benighted souls out here.

I did love living in NYC though, I love the cultural life, and the fast pace there. There are some really good people there, just kind of abrupt at times.

And I was a novelty because I came from a family of TEN children.

My Declaration to the World

My name is Timothy Christopher Rollins and I was born Friday May 15th, 1959 in San Diego, California, the seventh of eleven children.

On Saturday August 28th, 1971, I entered the waters of baptism and became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Through the nearly thirty years that I have been a member of the Church, I have been afforded countless opportunities for personal growth, and for that I am indeed truly thankful to my Father in Heaven.

I have come to realize time and again that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. I also know that through the marvelous gift of the Atonement he took upon Himself not only the sins of the world, but also the pain and suffering of all men (and women) that we may not endure such if we will but follow Him along the road that leads back to Eternal Life into His presence and that of God the Father.

On Sunday April 20th 1980, I was ordained an Elder in the Melchizedek Priesthood of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and two days later on Tuesday April 22nd, I entered the Salt Lake Temple to receive the blessings of the temple endowment. Through the knowledge gained in this course of instruction, I have come to realize even more that God does indeed love us, and that He wants for us to have all that He has, and that a way has been provided that we may become even as Him – perfect in every way.

As a member of the Church, I have had the opportunity of serving within the Church in a variety of positions in both leadership and administration. I have been particularly blessed with the sacred privilege of serving as an Ordinance Worker within the walls of the Holy Temple – first in the Logan Utah Temple, then in the Los Angeles California Temple and then in the Toronto Ontario Temple. Each of these opportunities has not only blessed my life, but more importantly, the lives of those who I have had the blessing of not only knowing, but also of loving and appreciating for the many ways they have blessed my life and motivated me to improve for the better.

Such is the Gospel of Jesus Christ in its purest sense – for if we are to become "... even as I am" (3 Nephi 27:27) as commanded by the Savior in his discourse to the Nephites during his visit to the Americas in the period immediately following his crucifixion on Golgotha’s cruel cross, it is incumbent upon me to live my life in such a manner that my friends and family, particularly my children and grandchildren, will see that while I am by no means perfect, that they will find in their father, grandfather and friend a man of honor and integrity – one whose mission and purpose in life is to walk up to and honor the covenants he has made throughout his life, particularly the ones made at baptism and especially the ones made in the House of the Lord, even the Holy Temple.

Such is my charge and commission. May I live each day of my life in mortality as a preparation for that great and glorious day that I am with my family and friends once again in the realm of eternity, where we will be able to strengthen and renew the bonds of love and friendship that are so much a part of our lives now.

Signed and dated this twenty-sixth day of February, in the year of our Lord, two thousand and one.

Timothy Christopher Rollins
