I don't do nice very well, but I could use a good recipe for bread pudding...

OK. Nice or not, here an easy one for:

Acadian Bread Pudding with Amaretto Sauce

1 loaf stale French bread

1 quart milk

1/2 cup sugar

6 eggs

1 cup golden raisins

1 tablespoon pure vanilla

Splash of Amaretto (to add to hot bread pudding)

In a large bowl, soak bread in milk. Add sugar, raisins, and vanilla. Add eggs. Mix very lightly. Place in well-buttered baking dish. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes (until set). Serve topped with Amaretto Sauce:

Amaretto Sauce:

1 stick butter

1 cup powdered sugar

1/4 cup Amaretto

1 egg yolk

Over low heat, melt butter and sugar together, stirring constantly. Add Amaretto and egg yolks. Heat slowly for one or two minutes to set eggs. Poke holes in bread pudding and pour sauce over it.

Now, where in the world is the Smart family these days?
