I saw the parents on Greta and Connie Chung tonight. They were pathetic. At least on Chung (wasn't Connie--a substitute) the prosecutor was also on and she indicated the abuse story is far worse than first reports.
May I just say how grateful I am that I had loving parents? We sure weren't perfect kids, and we were reprimanded a lot. But if you told my mom and dad to do what was done to that little girl, they would have just gotten up and walked out.
One of the men I work with adopted a couple of little girls several years ago. They had been physically and sexually abused. The youngest girl was about 18 months old, she had a habit of going into the bathroom, and trying to flush her head down the toilet. His wife would have to make sure all the bathroom doors were locked. The three year old never did come around, and she was influencing the younger one, so they had to give her up, which broke their hearts. But both this guy and his wife just loved that little girl. She would sit and rock with her for hours, reading stories and singing songs to her. And the other little girl they had to give up, went to another home, and is doing quite well also. Anyway, the point to my story is, love goes a long ways towards healing hearts.
