"The van Dams were adults and entitled to engage in whatever lifestyle they chose, said this juror."
Well, I guess the defense, and a few of the save dave fan club were completely off base eh?

I really don't know.
I've read a few things about Haskell, he really gets into his work. We has a farm where he leaves out pigs and other animals just to watch the bugs grow. He travels the US to do the same in different climates. Then there's the Body Farm in Tennessee that does the same, but with people.
It was becoming a fairly mature science. I find myself stuck in the trap: "But you'd think they'd have done that already.." Not a reliable place to be.
I've read about the wild crap that blood spatter analysts have done just to be able to say "Yes, we tried that". With all the weight that their testimony carries, you'd think (there I go again) that they'd already have tried somethign similar. And you just know that every single time they testify from here on out the defense will throw this back in their face.
On the up side, I'm almost sure that this February Haskell will be in San Diego with a few dead pigs.

Why don't you actually LISTEN to the juror interviews?

Buh bye. May God have mercy on your soul. Amen to that. My, my, I am a little surprised. The fact that a California jury would sentence him to death surprises me a little. But like you said, may God have mercy on his soul.

lol It's amazing isn't it. I guess some of them are innocent of wrong doing, just like DW!!

They were very upset cuz fresnoda got banned for falsifying the post from the admin moderator. Have only seen a couple of them since that happened.
Well, good. If Westerfield can't be guilty in Free Republic land, what's conservative country coming too?
I love these hardworking admin moderators. They get it right so very often.

One juror was asked about their thoughts on the child porn. He said it helped him personally as far as motive.
Jurors just finished answering questions. They said they felt no pressure. Roberts said one of the jurors who just answered questions appears to be the jury foreman.

A prosecutor and perhaps a juror or 2 will be on Larry King tonight - pushing the med students to a smaller segment.

Nice post... a lot of people are confused about it...
"On the up side, I'm almost sure that this February Haskell will be in San Diego with a few dead pigs."
I do so hope that this will show that every state should have a few of them. (including mummified ones..in various stages)

For those of you who don't know, Kim4VRWC did yeoman's work contesting people who thought Westerfield was innocent in previous FREEP threads. Kim4's posts prevented the rest of us from going insane!

Fourty-seven: Stating that you're against the death penalty because 'it won't bring back the little girl' isn't a tenable argument; you may as well state that Westerfield doesn't deserve ANY punishment, because rotting away in prison won't bring back the little girl, either.
See how silly that sounds?
And no, I won't flame you because of your opposition to the death penalty--I was once in opposition myself, until I encountered the Wesley Alan Dodd murder case in Vancouver, Washington in 1991-1993. He was a beast who tortured and murdered three little boys; he begged to be put to death, because, he stated, if he ever got out, his only pleasure in life was to kill children, and he would do it again.
Some people aren't worth the lead in the bullet it would take to shoot them; and some crimes are so hideous that death, I believe, is the only correct punishment.

Thanks Cyn...we are getting no coverage here at all. I guess I'll go to rr's website.

And if Dahmer would have been on Death Row, he would have never been on a work detail. He would have a 1/5 guard to prisoner ratio in exersise areas and meals and also not had another killer in his cell with him.
Pretty safe to be, Death Row. Life has its ironies, does'nt it?

OK now I am really confused. You posted this at 2:27 P.M. PT from another thread that has been pulled that says it was posted 9/16/02 3:55 PM ooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh! forget it I now see it says 3:55 central. For awhile there I didn't know if I was coming or going.
Looks like the jury after being dead-locked then needing some guidance sure came back fast with a death penalty verdict. I wonder which jurors turned and why.

They also said the blood on the jacket was most important.
Feldy's on now.
To: redlipstick
Feldy only spoke of international disapproval of the DP.
And, of course, there will be an appeal.

I'm still not personally convienced, but I do think Kim did a great job. I'll debate anything with her!
To: ~Kim4VRWC's~
Haha, my Court TV coverage is tape delayed now. While they went "live" for the verdict what is being shown now is discussion of the jury note saying they were deadlocked.
Feldman talking to the media now via Rick Roberts live.
Feldman says "We're America. We're alienating ourselves from the international community by having the Death Penalty".
Well, THAT is not a reason I would cite for being anti-DP.
Feldman says the defense will have no further comment.

Dusek will be on RR momentarily.

How about mentioning all of us on the other side who ALSO didn't post here for months because of the abuse heaped on us by YOUR side?
The enmity which this case generated on this site is deplorable, whatever a person thought about this case. Most of us posting here on this case agree on most political issues, but this case has caused a permanent divisiveness on FR. It's sad.
I'm glad to hear justice was done. Too bad California's death penalty system is so screwed up, but I've read they're taking steps to fix it. DW richly deserves the death penalty.
