why does this come as a great shock to you? you'd rather choke than admit Moul may have been doing some underhanded repair jobs, like not completely fixing what he said he fixed; or that the vehicle was a piece of junk. Oh, heaven forbid that the exhalted Moul may be a shady character in this all-star tragedy after all! Sherlock, Devil-Anse, sandude and I will all buy into your theory IF you provide just one little shred of evidence to support your theory. Just one!

What is it with this loyalty? Is Ed Smart an ex-con? Has Moul been incarcerated?

I have indeed suspected Moul of shady dealings, spore-gasm. I have been disabused of that notion, for now.
But even when I was at the height of my suspicions of Moul, suspecting him of being involved in, shall we say, shady business dealings with Ricci, nowhere in the scenarios I thought up did I ever find anything that could point to Moul's setting Ricci up for the abduction of Elizabeth Smart. Moul could be as crooked as Clinton's thang, but still, why would he lie to get Ricci charged with the kidnapping? There's just nothing that points to it.
