"Sadly, most junkies end up taking whatever will give them a high, anything at all."

Yes. And even sadder, many addicts are legal addicts, people who are legally prescribed narcotic pain medicines over and over. Such a thing can make a contributing member of society into a fodder for criminal courts.

I'm sure Angela's doctor has been paranoid and is trying to get her off the Soma's he had been prescribing for her for the last year and a half.

I think Angela knows enough on what Richard was up to and what happened to ES that she won't be stupid enough to try to bring any lawsuit or write any book. She wanted to clear his name in the eyes of the gullible public, like varina, and she will now disappear for good unless there's eventually a trial she's called to.

I used to work in a pharmacy, it was astounding to see people who would abuse prescription drugs, who would never think of buying any street drugs. "My dr prescribed it for me, therefore it is OK" was a common comment. And then I would have customers who would worry over the 10 Percocet pills their dentist gave them after a difficult procedure, worried that they would get addicted. I've done a fair amount of study in this area of addiction. There are many components to addiction, we would tell people that addiction to most narcotics would take place over a period of time, taking the drugs daily and upping the dosage to get that first initial "rush", which sometimes graduated to doctor shopping, forgeries, etc. I don't wish to get into a legalize all drugs vs don't legalize all drugs, but I have see the human cost drugs and alcohol take upon individuals and their families. And it is tragic.
