First, I found a leak in the basement, which is probably the humidifier for our furnace. I can't find the shut-off, and Mr. Marple is working late tonight.
Then, my oven has quit working. It is a built-in, and was here when we bought the house, so I am afraid we will be buying a new oven. Ugh.
Then, I decided to paint the trim in the kitchen, which has some nicks in it. The paint was hardened and unusable. I will have to go buy more.
THEN, I broke a tooth, and it is visible if I smile.
I think I will not attempt any more projects today. Maybe I should just take a nap.
We just bought 5 cans of paint to begin our painting project for the holidays. It sits in the foyer (I'm making it sound too grand - actually it's a 3x5 space that's right inside the front door) waiting for our ambition to catch up with itself!
S-i-l's oven (came with the house) just crashed and burned too. It was not fixable - good luck with yours.
I am going to the sites Doggie mentioned. I will probably be in tears also....
Panda pictures came back yesterday. Maybe I will save them for a pick-me-up towards the end of the week...
Fox discussing Ritter.
First, a belated Happy Birthday!
And secondly, over the weekend I was able to accomplish a Marpleized attack on the press.....in a subtle way. KMOX (News talk) radio sponsored an event called "St. Louis Cooks and Entertains" which I attended, and the station had all of its on air talent doing public appearances, and introducing many of the local chefs who were doing demos. If you remember Charles Jaco, from CNN during the gulf war he was always reporting from Riyad, Saudi Arabia, he is now a local talk show chatter in St. Louis. Every time I see him appear in public he looks like a complete slob. (The last few times I saw him were during Bush campaign appearances in 2000.) On Saturday, he was wearing a faded golf shirt, that was too small to fit over his spreading middle.....not tucked in. He always looks unshaven and unkempt. I'm telling any of you that remember his reports during the war, that you would not recognize him at all. While we were waiting for the chefs to get set up, Jaco, made a lame announcement about how we were waiting for one of the chefs to show up, and promptly said nothing more! NO programming.....DEAD AIR! Well, this citizen reporter decided it was the perfect opportunity to point out to my sister, my friend, and anyone else that could hear the sound of my voice......how appalling it was that KMOX would let one of their broadcasters make a public appearance looking the way he did. Some of the younger and "hungrier" on-air talent were appropriately dressed for a public appearance, and it was easy for me to point them out on the show-room floor. Jaco must have no pride in himself, the city or the station that he works for. (Well, I couldn't give him a bad haircut, but I did my best!)
Today, I heard that he is reporting from ground zero.....ugh!
