Well, some of his fishing equip we did sell to a friend of ours, who adores fishing(BigDom and I just dont fish)...dad had also made tons of his own fishing flys, and this friend went nuts over them....so I sold him some of those, tho kept some in remembrance of dad...

As to the tools, well we, still have all of them...I also forgot to mention that dad had lots of machines...ban saws, grinders, lathes, etc...we still have all of them...BigDom thinks he will need all of that stuff someday...

As to the knives and blades and such....many of the knives, which were in pristine condtion, were given to favorite friends, and nephews in remembrance of dad...we have kept the rest...Both Andy and Bigdom love knives, so they have kept all of them for themselves...

Somehow, it just does not seem right to sell that stuff...we have given much of it away, to friends, and family, that especially were fond of my dad, or who my dad had a special place in his heart for...and friends of ours, who have admired much of dads stuff, have been allowed to purchase some pieces, but for really very little...I was always of the mind, as was dad, that when someone really admired something of yours, and you were willing to part with it, you just gave it to them...but a lot of my friends would not take it free, so I just charged them a nominal fee...

Poor Andy, when BigDom and I die, he will have most of my mom and dads stuff, along with BigDoms collections, my own collections of various things, the biggie being my dolls....

But for the most part, I just dont have the heart to sell this stuff...

I understand exactly what you're saying about the sentiments involved. I've seen some lovely shadow boxes featuring fishing flies and other lures - that could be a way to both preserve and display your dad's talents. bbl

Hey Mom.. Your mentioning your Father's drills brought my daughter to mind. She went to put up all the new shades she bought for the house yesterday, and she jammed her battery operated one. She went to get the electric one and couldn't find it so had to borrow her neighbors.

Guess where her electric one went? Her husband threw it out because she had the battery one.. When that man cleans, he really cleans.. Talk about anal.. lol

Well, he'll be cleaning his own place now.. ;( ;) He can throw anything out he likes.. lol
