Thanks Grannie...I am sure he will recover...but those colds, they are not serious, but boy you sure can feel lousy...colds always settle in Doms sinuses...
He had sinus surgery a few years ago, and the doc told me his sinuses were just terrible....they really need good surgical care, which he did get...
Dom is really leary of doctors...so he had been putting off this sinus surgery, for years and years, even tho he knew he needed it....he did a lot of research on it, and read lots of papers about it...he also heard lots and lots of horror stories from people about how painful and post surgical care was...so he was not happy about his situation...
But then he read a paper by a doctor in Baltimore, Md, at Johns Hopkins, who invented a special stent that he uses on all his sinus surgery patients...Dom tried to find a doc out here in Washington state, which used a similar device, but could not find one...
So he contact his health insurance provider, that he gets through his employment at the post office...he thought there might be some stipulation about going out of state for surgery...but his insurance is really great it covers him no matter what state, in fact, no matter what country he has medical care in...so that was good to know...
So BigDom contacted the doctor in Baltimore, who agreed to do his surgery, found a board a care home, where Dom could live and get his meals and recuperate and be taken to his doctors appts.
I did not go with Dom when he had this surgery, but I was assured he would be in good hands, by people who would take care of him...when he had the surgery, the doctor called me from Baltimore, right from the recovery room, told me of all that transpired, and gave the phone to BigDom so that I could talk to him...of course, Dom was groggy and somewhat incoherent, but at least I knew he was ok....
He then had to remain in Baltimore for 2 weeks, at the board and care, in order to be able to go for his two post operative appointments with the doctor....he recovered really well from the surgery, and never had any pain, and healed up quite nicely....
Being that he was not really sick, just had to stay in Baltimore for follow up care, he got to play tourist, on those days when he was feeling well...he went to D.C. for the day, got to sightsee all around Baltimore, got to go to an Orioles baseball game...well he had a good time, even tho he was there for medical care...
I think the highlight of his trip tho, was a visit to Arlington...he had never been there before, so he was really impressed with it, especially the row upon row of military dead...it just got to him...
When he was all better, after two weeks, he returned home feeling so much better....with his sinuses as bad as they were, he said he always felt like he was underwater...now with the surgery, he felt like a new man....
It was really much more expensive for him to go to Baltimore, having to pay airfare, and paying for a board and care home for two weeks...but he always felt it was worth it to him, to get the surgery done the way he wanted,, even if it cost a good deal of out of pocket money...And I agreed with him...no sense having medical treatment done by a doctor who does not have your full confidence...besides, he is the main breadwinner is the family, and he should be able to spend he money he earns, in a way that instills confidence in him...
But the doctor did say, that even tho he had the sinus surgery, he would always have some small problems with his sinuses...and when he gets a cold, that is where they settle...in his sinuses....but at least, when he does not have a cold, he feels more like a normal person, because of the surgery he got....

Mom.. my Mother suffered terribly with Sinus.. She really thought she would lose her mind it was so bad.. She heard of a Dr. on a small Island connected to our town and she went to him..
He had invented this machine.. I was young at the time, so I can only recall so much..and what I caught later, but it was some kind of thing that heated up your sinuses and used some kind of radio waves or something.. She went for three sessions and she was cured..
I guess he drained quarts of sinus fluids out of her at each visit.. This machine was not legal at the time, and I think he died before it could be made so..but boy, did that machine save her life..and sanity..
I have heard since that the son owns the machine, but I don't know if he uses it or not.. We always meant to check, but no one ever did.. It use of it may have died with him..or the son may be using it illegally too..
