I haven't looked at this issue for long time, but I remember a little about it. As I understood, he was in Alabama helping in a US Senate race and assigned to a unit where no one took drills very seriously. He should have gone through the motions anyway, but he didn't. I don't condone what he did, but I can understand losing the motivation to do something that is being treated as meaningless by everyone else.
The important point is that he returned to a unit in Texas and made up the time. He made good on his obligation, and I respect him for doing that.

What a weird way to spend your time! How is the experiment going? Are you the lab rat in this scenario or is FreeRepublic? Do you plan to stay when this experiment is over, or are you going back to Fred?

I considered a black tie affair. But it seemed a bit pretentious.

I'm an Independent who leans to the right, who was recently booted off Democratic Underground.com for making some critical comments about Bill Clinton... I would venture to say that the comments you made of Bill Clinton on DU were relatively civil based on the way you present yourself here. Given that, I first want to welcome you to FR. Next, I would like to point out the nature of the typical liberal, otherwise known as shrillus emotionda. They normally do not want engaging debate. They want parental affirmation. They want to sing with all there brothers and sisters while holding hands, "We are the world, we are the children, lala-la lalala-la mmmm mmm...." They want others to acknowledge that they are victims, too, and that they therefore now belong to elite whiner's club and deserve there own whiner's club card. They declare there love and openness to every likeminded soul...only. So, there you have it.(not really, I could go on)
Liberals are troublesome, but it is the leftists that I cannot stand.
