You seem unusually envious of Angela Ricci, the widow of Richard Ricci. I can't fathom your motivation, but it is unseemly for a Mormon "Christian" to continually deride and verbally abuse a poor widow.

Gee, and I thought I was deriding varina. Thanks for straightening me out on the finer points. Envious of Angela? No one will ever accuse you of having deductive reasoning skills.

It's better to remain quiet and be thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt.

It's hard to believe you are a political conservative, Palladin, you come across as a 'thinking liberal' if I've ever heard one.

No, he comes across as a decent human being.

What else do you have in that big bag of tired cliches?

You need some new material.

"What could possibly be the SLCPD's motivation[?]"--Sherlock.

"An odd thing to be brought up this late in the game."--freedox.

Thanks to both of you for pointing this out. I don't get it either. Why are the police apparently publicizing their mistakes regarding the scene--and why now?

Angela sure looks the part of the grieving widow, with her silver nail polish and her cigarette in her hand. Where's that Nancy Pomeroy when one needs her?

Again we see a quote from D.A., or assistant D.A., Kent Morgan. He seems to be just a bit bemused, and perhaps rubbed the wrong way, by Mormons. (If he is a Mormon, then obviously I'm incorrect, someone let me know.) In the Dixon article, he speaks of the Mormon ex-bishop "fleecing his flock." In this article he almost parodies the activities of the Smarts' friends and neighbors by calling it "the ward function of the year."

Sherbert reminds me of an old saying:

"Empty barrels make the most noise". A cliche of the last century.

Liz was also asked to put her shoes on. This always made me think that she was going to have to hike or walk from her home. Sounded as if the perp was from her neighborhood.

I thought it was old, too, but it's got a date of September 7. SL Tribune, I think. Very strange article and statements--strange in that the police are practically advertising their young officers' mistakes with the scene, and very strange in the timing of publication. I don't get it.

To: Neenah -- We don't need people here that are only interested in bashing the Smart family and the intelligent posters, go back to the Westerfield thread where you belong and keep up the defense for your man

Get off Neenah's back. Do you have a vested interest in this case?

"Why are the police apparently publicizing their mistakes regarding the scene--and why now?"

Of course, it's possible that this is just a build-up to "the case can't be solved due to problems with the crime scene, etc." On the other hand, it's possible that the police will use this as a springboard to start collecting more forensic data on the people who were there that night. As I recall, they tried to collect some samples before, but some of the men were out of town. Does anybody know if those men ever submitted to testing?

Yes, no doubt Jolly Green is envious of that good feeling Angela gets when she takes her Soma. Or perhaps envious of her "Whistler's Mother"-like portrayal in that Ricci funeral photo someone posted above. She certainly looks the modest, grieving widow--with her silver nail polish, and her cigarette between her fingers as she hugs her friend.

Got to get in a little dig about "Christian," don't you? Are you a Mormon Christian? If not, then what makes you an expert on how one should act?

I feel sure you could hardly contain a chuckle as you typed the words "poor widow" about Mrs. Ricci.

Lt. Lyman estimates the number of people inside the house at "more than a dozen"......Ed Smart's estimate is 40-50.

That's a heck of a lot of people to be in the home in the middle of the night right after an alleged crime has been committed! Guess the LE is just trying to CYA on their own behalf.
