Nope, Douglas Francom is not a brother to Lois Smart. From Myron Francom's obituary:

Myron is survived by his eternal companion Jenny of 60 years; children, Laura Parr (John), Myron L. Jr. (Beverly), Mark S. (Janice), Carolyn Joy Bradford (Kenneth), Michael A. (Lorna), Genevieve Wright (Steven), Stanford L. (Terry), Lois Smart (Edward), David B. (Carolyn). He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother and both sisters.

This man lived to his last conscious moment stonewalling the Smart family, the police, and the American public on this most horrible human tragedy and took all the information he had to the grave. There was no deathbed confession, no repentance or asking for salvation like the thief on the cross. I might add his wife is continuing the stonewalling by not offering all the information her husband told his lawyers pertinent to the Elizabeth Smart case to the public.

Smart Family Says Report of Man Digging in Canyon “Highly Suspicious”

KUTV Website

Sep 3, 2002 5:38 pm US/Mountain

The Smart family is now focusing on other people known to associate with Richard Ricci. During a news conference held Tuesday, Elizabeth's father reiterated what the family has felt from the beginning.

“The family believes that along with Richard there were others involved,” said Ed Smart.

Elizabeth Smart's family also said they're anxious to know the identity of a man who was digging in Fairview Canyon in Sanpete County. There is a rough composite drawing of the man that two hikers passed reportedly digging a rectangular hole that looked like a "grave." The man told the hikers it was to roast a pig, but then apparently left in a blue SUV.

The family is calling the events "highly suspicious."

"Just recently we hear about a blue van that Moul saw and now says the two men may or may not have driven away in. This was new to me."

New to me, too. I saw the interview of Moul and Banfield a couple? of months ago? At no time did he say such a thing.

Does one's memory get better with time? Don't think so.

Police obviously didn't want the blue van information released, just as they haven't wanted a sketch of the 5'8" man with dark hair that drove it released, for whatever reason. There has also been very little released about the machette Ricci was wearing and I doubt Moul would have made it up. You posters are shameless. Police consider him credible so he probably passed a polygraph.

Nancy Grace is so full of herself it's nauseating.

That pretty much applies to all of us that don't buy into your Smart-bashing, Mormon-bashing theories, doesn't it?

I have seen many professionals (or those more used to being on national TV) not have the poise she had, even with some pretty insensitive questions thrown at her.

I especially liked her "poise" when asked about a book deal. She looked positively thrilled - like she had won the lottery.

The use of the word 'surreptitiously' clinched it;

You really need to pick up that logic book I recommended. Use of the word 'surreptitiously' in no way excludes Ricci as the person who took it.

My question is, how long have these ex-cons been working for him? How long has he been in this type of business that he'd need people like this around?

You are conveniently leaving out the part that Ed Smart didn't know the Ricci and possibly others were ex-cons. He needed workers around all the time in his business - building and remodeling homes.

I just don't believe he was plotting a kidnapping at the same time he was living with Angela and her son.

Are you saying that it was OK that Ricci plotted armed bank robberies while living with Angela and her son, but it is unlikely that he planned a failed burglary or premeditated kidnapping at the Smarts?

Oh, please. Do you honestly believe that LE told Neth Moul not to tell AB about this little tidbit while he was being interviewed?? Give me a break!

How do you know that they were living together at that time? Where is the source, or did a little birdie tell you?

If Ricci wasn't dead you'd probably say he escaped from prison and tried to blow up the whole state to stymie the investigation. :)

I never saw Ricci dead, did you?

And who was it that said he had "no reason to lie" (besides a few people on this thread)? That he was "totally believable"? I saw Moul agree with everything Banfield said in that particular interview. If Ashleigh said there was 1200 miles on the Jeep he may have said yes. It sounded phoney then, as it does now.

If it comes down to believing Angela or Moul, that's a real easy choice. The big reward money ($250,000) that some of you are trying to smear Moul about was announced about the first day and was only for the safe return of ES. It's hard to imagine a scenario where Moul would play in that. The $25,000 reward came about a month or more after ES was abducted - after the Moul grand jury testimony and Banfield interview i.e. Moul didn't know about it because it hadn't been announced.

They tell witness to keeps their lips sealed on a lot of evidence in cases. The first time I saw the security guard at the hospital interviewed he said he made a 911 call when they two cars were acting suspiciously in the parking lot. He never mentioned it again, I'm sure because the police asked him not to.

There's a Terror Alert at a chemical plant in Tooele, Utah - someone dressed in black (a cat burglar, no doubt) attempted to get into a chemical plant. If Ricci wasn't dead you'd probably say he escaped from prison and tried to blow up the whole state to stymie the investigation. :)

Think reality! Reality is a good thing. Repeat after me. I like reality. Reality is good for me. I want to be realistic.
