I post on this forum, and on one other. In all posting, I have always tried very hard to give Ricci the presumption of innocence.

All that we know of Ricci comes from interviews of his wife, in-laws, his old buddies the police, etc., and from reporters writing or broadcasting stories.

Supposedly, Ricci's dolt neighbor Thurber became suspicious of him b/c: he saw him drinking beer early on the morning of June 5, he found Ricci hammering early in the morning on the Thurber trailer, "fixing a hole," and Thurber also said Ricci gave some rapturous description of Elizabeth that indicated she'd made quite an impression on old Rick. (What would you think/say, if you were awakened by your neighbor hammering boards onto YOUR home at about 8 in the morning?)

I don't know, but I imagine the police had a specific reason for suspecting the alibi Ricci gave. My theory is, that either Ricci contradicted himself in his acccounts of it, or Angela contradicted herself in her accounts of it, or they contradicted each other.

Then we hear that Ricci, informed that his mechanic had said his jeep was NOT at the shop btw May 30 and June 8, just refused to even attempt to help figure out why Moul might have been "mistaken," or even lying about Ricci. If someone was telling a baldfaced lie about you, wouldn't you be outraged? Wouldn't you go over there and say, hey, what's your problem? We never hear that Ricci did these things. We also never hear that Ricci made any complaint whatsoever when he supposedly found out that his mechanic had let some unknown person use HIS jeep for 8-9 days and at least 500 miles. Wouldn't you be livid, and demand an explanation? We never hear that Ricci did.

To top it all off, we hear that Ricci spent many hours talking with police. Why? How many times do you figure Ricci's heard those Miranda rights (right to remain silent, etc.) repeated? Why on earth would he not, by now, have learned that the right to remain silent means the right to remain silent?

Ricci did a lot of things which served to erode the presumption of innocence in the mind of a casual observer. But he still would have gotten it, had there been a trial. That's all he was entitled to--nothing more.

This was some 9 days later. They might have already identified this guy by then and didn't want him to realize they were on to him. Could be that they are incompetent. Could be that there was nothing significant. Obviously the Smarts think that it is important and from what we've seen I agree.

In some articles it said Jun 9 and in some 3-4 days after the kidnapping.

Bad math by journalists I suppose. Close though, would probably be counted as correct in our modern schools. Wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings would we?

Why are you so enamored of Richard Ricci?

You've practically convicted this Spencer Dixon guy, and I think you just heard about him today or a short time ago. I've seen wolves go after their prey more slowly.

There are some circumstances which, if true, make Dixon a viable suspect. The same applies to Ricci. We know that Ricci knew Elizabeth; we haven't yet found out if Dixon knew her. Why do you defend Ricci, and hang Dixon?

Mary Katherine said there was a threat made. I think there was a fear the perp would act on his threat whatever that was.

How true. Why did this poster stereotype Mormon wives? How many Mormon wives has this poster met? I understand Cynthia Smart Owens is both a Mormon wife, and a pediatrician. Is the competition in medical school "docile?"

I'm not "defending" or "hanging" anyone. If you read my earlier posts, you'd know that.

In the absence of any concrete evidence to link the alleged crime to anyone, everything said here is just speculation.

Sherlock, I also have wondered about the Chad incident, in which that guy supposedly saw a man who fit the description and later heard shots fired. I also see a lot of sense in your frequent admonition to posters: that if the police say, oh, it was nothing, it's discredited, false...that whenever the police say that, we should pay close attention.

But how could Chad or whoever have seen this red white and blue tattoo on the man's shoulder, if the man was wearing a white shirt? And Chad wasn't exactly standing next to the guy, I think he saw him from a distance....?

Then why did they send the video to FBI headquarters in Quantico, CA to make still photographs of the cars to take measurements to determine their makes & models?
