"lovely pic of my 9 month old cousin drinking out of a Schlitz beer can"
Since it was the 60's, we should all be grateful it was just beer your infant cousin was photographed with.

Tom, his alibi, his position--
Well, if that guy who wrote that Sports Shooter article is to be believed, Tom had already relinquished his editor job for the staff photog position.
Why would he feel the need to tell anyone he'd taken a sleeping pill that night or any other night? Was it over-the-counter, or prescription? Must have been over-the-counter, if he woke for the phone call. Someone once asked if Ed called Tom on Tom's home phone, or on Tom's cellphone. Apparently Tom is saying he got Ed's call on his home phone. The truth or untruth of that assertion should be easy enough to check out through phone records, I guess.
There was some murmuring a long time ago about possible reasons for Tom's alleged "inconclusive" polygraph result, and one alleged possible explanation had to do with some hanky panky unrelated to the abduction. Who knows? (I would make a comment about Ms. Sue Ann Adams, Ed Smart's neighbor who knew Ed, was among the first to go over to Elizabeth's house, and had Ricci recommended to her by Ed, but for once I will try--perhaps feebly--to stay on the right side of the "poor taste" demarcation.)

I doubt that was beer in her (ES) hand.

What comment?

At least one news article quoted one of the Beesley daughters (across the street from Smarts) as being the same age as, and friends with, Elizabeth. The girl said she and Elizabeth used to play a game where they pretended to be "Greek gods." They also played on the trampoline together. This, of course, was the family who had almost been victims of the kidnapping 10 years ago.

And your point is...?

"And your point is...?"
Nothing much, scaredkat had just wondered if Elizabeth had gone off with a neighbor's daughter before. I don't know if she had, but I did read that she was pretty good friends with one neighbor's daughter, one of the Beesley girls.
To: landerwy
I also doubt it was beer. IBC brand root beer bottles are brown glass, and really do look like beer bottles from a distance, and look a lot like what Elizabeth had in her hand.

On thing, I think is really odd, is ed smart went to the neighbors(?) to see if their kids where there and alright. Why would you be worrying about your neighbors kids and not your own, that is missing. It brings these questions up Has Elizabeth done this before? and if so, with neighbors daughter? Where do they run off to?,/I> Great questions, scaredkat.

that saturn that edmunds owned must have been turbo-charged, because the cops had numerous chances to catch him. yet none of them could every run down the 'super-saturn' lol
To: jandji
I think they were following him to see where he would take them but at some given time they lost him.
To: scaredkat; jandji
Don't forget, Edmunds was constantly stealing new plates to put on his Saturn.
Edmunds' importance to police has never been explained to us. I think it lies in the fact that both he and Ricci had to buy their heroin somewhere. Maybe they had the same dealer or dealers.

Flirting with frat boys is common. Its possible. Why have the police not looked in that direction? I am still wondering about the shoes or if it really happened.
To: dalebert
I feel sure the shoes thing happened, though maybe not the way it's been described to us. After all, the shoes are apparently missing...
What I'd like to know is, btw the trip to the bathroom and all (if that really happened), are any of Elizabeth's clothes missing?

I would like to know what was missing from the house (among other things) also. Its not likely they are going to tell us anything. This whole case is fishy.
To: dalebert
Yes, knowing if any objects disappeared from the Smart home the same night Elizabeth disappeared would help us greatly. Especially Elizabeth's clothes.
The news has said that in his earlier thefts from the Smart home (which occurred in June, 2001, I think), Ricci took a wineglass full of seashells, a perfume bottle, a windchime...
So if any "Kitchen Witches", sentimental refrigerator magnets, or cute plaques with sayings on them like "Bloom where you're planted", disappeared at the same time Elizabeth disappeared, I'd be convinced it was Ricci in the house that night!
Definitely fishy. Seriously.
Hey, you don't suppose the Smarts had one of those singing fish, those "Billy Bass" things? I can't imagine Ricci, with his taste in burglary loot, being able to resist that!

not to be an ass about this, but heroin addiction is a very serious physical problem, and these guys weren't smack addicts.

the milkman initially described the car as an early 80's nissan, color was grey, described driver as matching description released by police: "5'8, white baseball hat, tan jacket, etc." if you look at the milkman, "smeller's the feller" yikes
