"I do believe in the existence of a God or Supreme Being."
So do I.

It's hard for some non-religious people to believe that certain religious people really do "believe in that stuff." But they do. It's called "faith," and in my opinion it is what brings happiness and contentment.

No one who truly had such a mindset could have harmed Elizabeth. The problem is, among people we don't know personally, it's hard to distinguish who has faith and who doesn't. Some are only going through the motions.

Dont let her upset you sometimes she like to ruffle feathers. Its a way of seeing what kind of temperment you have. It doesnt matter if your on one or a hundred thats your business. If anything shes paranoid because their is a possibility big brother is watching (and no I dont mean the show). I was thumped on at first too, it just your turn. These posters are cool we just have bad days.

"As the sun rose over the mountains that morning, the kidnapping was already a huge story." So what time did the sun rise on June 5?

Don't forget to allow for artistic license.

I saw that you asked who the possible suspects in this case were. Here's a recap of some of the ideas internet posters have had.
1. Bret Edmunds, b/c in the beginning there was a big search for him. After he was found about June 20, police interest in him appeared to cease.
2. Richard Ricci, deceased. Was suspected, had met Elizabeth while working at her home many months earlier, had some things to point to him, but nothing definite. His involvement, if any, has never been determined.
3. Remember the international kiddie porn scandal? 20 arrests made, about July, in U.S. and Europe? One of the photographers arrested in that scandal lived in Utah.
4. The entire Smart family is suspected by some, especially the men.
5. Spencer Dixon, about whom you've already read. No link to Elizabeth has yet been established, that we know of.
6. The neighborhood milkman, I think his name was Charlie Miller. He was interviewed on TV early on and said he saw a strange man in a car in the neighborhood early morning on about June 3. He also said he'd give milk samples to neighborhood children.
7. The Beesley attempted kidnappers. 10 yrs ago, across the street from Elizabeth's, 3 men were caught as they approached the Beesley home. They were about to kidnap one of the Beesley children for ransom. Not sure, but I think they'd all be out of prison by now.
8. Elizabeth's neighbors are suspected by some.
9. Possible chatroom predator; no confirmation and police claim to have already checked this.
10. Richard Dean Miller, listed on Utah sex offender list, looks a lot like Richard Ricci. Worked as an air conditioning contractor. Ask poster scaredkat about this one.
11. Douglas Young, John Russell Remington, Pete Romero. First two were allegedly partners with Ricci in other crimes. Romero--on Utah sex offender list; lived 2 trailers down from Ricci, knew Ricci. There was one other ex-con who knew Ricci who was summoned to grand jury, I can't remember his name.

You keep good notes, are you writing a book... my notes are everywhere Im not writing a book so its no never mind to me if you are and if I was writing a book still no never mind.(just chit chat)

Your number 7--Daniel Moll, Harry Campbell, and Greg Frischknect were the ones but I have to check for sure. It was a while ago when I looked them up. (Remember Im searching everyone that could be contected) I dont think they are and Im really confused by this. Sounds like a street not to live on. Politics maybe is the connection on these to but I think probably just that nothing more.

Just one of your 11 possibilities has much merit, IMHO.

All About Me – By Elizabeth Smart
– Posted September, 5th 2002

Fresh mountain air
Mixed with the smell of pine right after a rainstorm,
Wild flowers,
And the color sky-blue.

Going on long horseback rides,
Skiing down hills of snow.

The taste of fresh homemade bread,
Right out of the oven with butter on top melting.

Hot Fire Balls on a cold winters day.
Harps, pedals, and strings.

Ice frozen lakes with snow falling on top.
Cold days, warm cheery fires
And roasting marshmallows over bonfire.

I think I'm gonna stay out of posting on this thread and just read.

I for one appreciate your comments and hope you'll reconsider. Varina and others use the same tactic over and over to drive off new posters who are not logically challenged. I’d hate to see them derive a victory from their insult driven agenda.

"The possibility exists that if something obstructed the garage door from closing..."

That's exactly what happened, according to Ed. According to Ed, when he and Lois and Elizabeth came home after the awards ceremony at which she was too late to play the harp as planned, he was going into the house lugging the harp. He tried to put the garage door down, but it wouldn't respond b/c a tarp was between the sensors. He made a mental note to get the harp in, then come back to close the door, but said he forgot about the door for a couple of hours. So it really was gaping open. Note, at the time the door was left open, the adult family members were home. But it's a very big house, many places to hide.

I now believe this was a staged kidnapping right from the beginning and the Elizabeth was the target.

Good observation.

"Daniel Moll, Harry Campbell, and Greg Frischknecht"

Wow, you are really up on stuff!
That Harry Campbell guy was an interesting character, I heard. Born in England. Rare coin and documents expert. He's kind of old by now. Supposedly helped the police during investigation of Mark Hoffman, who of course is the criminal involved in the "Salamander Letters" scandal. This stuff's been discussed on these forums, but I'd love to hear your take on the Beesleys/Beesley kidnap attempt. Brigette's site has articles on it, too.

You forgot one very good candidate for your suspect list. The man who introduced Richard to Angela could very well be the accomplice to this crime and may have been the man who entered the Smart home that evening. This man is Angela's brother. I don't know his name but right now he is my top suspect in this crime. If you'd like I'll give you my reasons why.

"Just one of your 11 possibilities has much merit, IMHO."

But they're not MY possibilities, varina. I'm just recapping what I've learned from others, media, etc. The poster asked who the likely suspects were. I think he asked you, as a matter of fact. So if you'd answered, I guess you could have just said Spencer Dixon.

I have to respond about that house. It has so many bushes and trees you cant even see the house except for the bedroom window, garage and a porch above the garage that they have a lounge swing on. You could easly hide, you cant see the front door, the rest of the house, let alone climbing up a tree and hiding behind that swing. I always wonder about houses that hide behind trees especailly with the view they have up there. There driveway is very steep. My husband and I both agree it was very jungle junky. Lots of places to hide and slip in and out.
