My prayers go out to the Ricci family during this time. RR was sent up the river and used as a scape-goat. No evidence, whatsoever, linking him to the disappearance of Elizabeth.
May he rest in peace.
Your posts are usually pretty well thought out, but -- Angela or her brother???!!!
If LE (sheriff or whoever) investigated the trench, did they find anyone in it? Was it in a desolate area of the high plains desert? Did the alleged white-capped mystery man flee the scene or simply drive away? Did he threaten the hikers?
Blue four door sedan I believe.
I don't know, but I'll bet one of the first things LE did was check out Ricci's time card where he worked. And I'll bet it checked out OK.
The Cheyenne story was an attempt by Ricci's allies to give an explanation for the mileage, mud, and post hole digger. When LE went to look at the supposed evidence they had none. It was BS by his friends trying to clear him.

Sorry dude..you are "it" for the week. lol!!!
For real?!!!!
THE MAN TOLD THE HIKERS IT WAS TO ROAST A PIG, BUT THEN APPARENTLY LEFT IN A BLUE SUV!!!!
Do you think it's possible that Elizabeths body was in the back of the SUV and when the hikers came onto the scene our friend had to abandon his "pig roasting pit" and go find another place for his "cookout"?
No.
Brigette noticed it and posted the sketch and Angela's photo together. Others have also seen the resemblance. I bet if I told you it looked like a member of the Smart family you'd want to debate it.
"I saw his tattoo on his right shoulder. It was red, green and blue," Chad said.
The man was walking by himself but vanished when someone, possibly another searcher, yelled, "Hey, hey, hey," Chad said. Minutes later, Chad heard two gunshots and then footsteps about 10 feet above where he was standing.
"I was so scared. I told my brother not to radio me," Chad said.
His brother on Pinecrest Road had told others in the search party about the sighting, and they called authorities.
Matt Duven, 19, was with two friends in another area above Pinecrest. They heard about the sighting over the radio and tried to intercept the man.
"We thought we heard branches break. That's when we saw him coming over the ridge," Duven said.
His two friends decided to instead descend to the road and fetch sheriff's officers. Duven stayed by himself to keep an eye on the man, who apparently had stopped walking.
"He kept walking back and forth in a 25-foot area. Then he would sit down," Duven said. "I assume he was waiting for night to run away."
Duven also said he heard about nine gunshots. "It was two here, one there," he said.
About 25 minutes later it was dark, and Duven said he couldn't see the man.
"If this is the suspect, we know he is armed, so they were very smart not to go in there and follow him," said Salt Lake County sheriff's deputy Peggy Faulkner.
It looks nothing like Angela Ricci or any of the Smart family.
Others might disagree. At least when I mentioned the Smarts it got you to go take a look.
If they were able to see that much, they should have been able to see a lot more, one would think.
I thought this guy had been dismissed as a crackpot. Several hundred man hours were spent chasing the dead end lead. That's my memory anyway.
"They are currently still in the canyon looking for that person," Atkinson said. "At this point they've been unable to locate that person."
