Elizabeth Smart thread, August 31-September 7, 2002
Posted on 08/31/2002 10:26:34 AM PDT by IamHD
My prayers go out to the Ricci family during this time. RR was sent up the river and used as a scape-goat. No evidence, whatsoever, linking him to the disappearance of Elizabeth.
May he rest in peace.

Ricci was nervous, confused, drinking beer at 8:30 in the morning when he knew the police were coming, complete personality change. It was this personality change and the strange things he said, especially mushy things about ElizabethIt might be understandable that he would be "nervous, confused, drinking beer at 8:30 in the morning" if he was waiting to be questioned by police, even if he was innocent.
What "mushy things" did he say about Elizabeth? Do you have a source?

Well, good heavens. The guy had hypertension, high blood pressure -- that can easily make one sweat even when not laboring.
They said his blood pressure was normal.

If he sweated when not laboring it would have been normal and Thumper wouldn't have thought anything about it.

They said his blood pressure was normal. Probably not on that morning.

Ok sandude... Let me throw this at you. Liz was in the Jeep, Ricci or whoever decides to lay down newspaper so that no fibers or dirt get stuck to the carpet. Ricci removes the seat covers before he gets to the shop. Maybe he removes them because he thinks they may have picked up fibers or dna from Liz... now why the heck would he leave the newspapers down on the floor as they would have the fiber or dna laying on top of the paper or soaked into it and it would be alot easier to pick up the fiber or see the fibers or dna on the newspaper. Why take the seatcover and not remove the newspapers carefully before turning over the Jeep to Moul, that is if Ricci was worried that fibers might be left behind on the seat covers why would they not be left on the newspapers. See my point? Also if fluids would seep right through the seat covers so removing the covers are not going to stop fluid from being detected.
Now lets talk about Jeeps... I own a 1991 Jeep Cherokee... getting front seat covers for it is easy, just a trip to Wally World or K-fart and you have seat covers for the 2 front bucket seats. Now the rear seat would be very hard to get a cover for it that would work. The seat in the back is like a large jump seat and it is very small and not like a pick-up truck bench seat. The only place you may be able to get a cover that would fit the rear seat is to have one custom made or maybe JC Whitney may have something that would fit. The problem is the seat cover would be a pain in the ass if it was made of piece of cloth. If it was everytime you wanted to fold down the rear seat you would have to remove the whole seat cover from the seat. So what I am trying to say is the seat cover could have been a one piece cover and he removed it because he needed to fold down the rear seat (why? maybe he needed the full rear area of the jeep to haul something, was it Liz or was it some landscaping gear for a real job he was doing?)
Do you know how the rear seat in a cherokee folds down? Should I explain it?

I also believe that she got this look as the perp stuck his arm under the blanket to wake Elizabeth up.Hmmm. What happened to the theory that Liz woke up during a burglary and he had to take her?

See Post 235.

We don't that he did'nt tell them that story, too.

Hmmm. What happened to the theory that Liz woke up during a burglary and he had to take her? Not my theory varina. I've been saying for quite sometime that this was a strait up kidnapping all the way. Nothing else makes sense based on what we know.

They said his blood pressure was normal."They" also said he had been taking medication for hypertension before going to jail. I think it's sweet that you're so impressed with prison doctors and medical care in prisons.

This was an interview on television but it might be in Brigette's articles around Jun 27-29. I remember him saying Ricci talked about how cute she was and how she used to follow him around the house and help him out and Thurber used the term mushy to describe it, said it was way out.

They said his blood pressure was normal. Many excellent points, brigitte.

The whole point is... They really do not make seat cover small enough for a Jeep Cherokee rear seat. It would have to be one that fits a bench seat and the rear seat in cherokee is smaller than mini pick-up truck benck seat. Also bench seat covers are mainly sold as one piece units.
I wanted to buy a seat cover for my Cherokee to fit the rear seat to protect it from damage, I was never able to find one that would fit, even through JC Whitney or a Jeep accessory catalog. One thing about Jeep seats and would guess his are vinyl and cloth as he owns just a regular Cherokee. The weaved cloth on the seats will pill up (like on a sweater) ant it gets kinda fuzzy and fibers stick real easy to the seat fabric.

Correction
if it was made of ONE piece of cloth!

He may have taken the seat covers because they were muddy. I read somewhere the newspapers were down to keep mud off the carpet. He couldn't take the carpet with him. It seems like he intentionally went to a place where he knew it was real muddy (and thus easy to dig and bury something in) but would be a mess being there.
On the seat cover it sounded like it was one piece with a southwest design. He took it with him when he left.

Do you know how the rear seat in a cherokee folds down? Should I explain it? No I don't think that is necessary. I read one place that this seat cover was an Indian blanket. Can anybody help out here? I think that Liz was tightly wrapped in plastic in the back of the Jeep with maybe a tarp thrown over the body during the trip to the woods on the 8th. The seat covers (blanket) were removed because that is where she was when they transported her on the night of the kidnapping. I've never thought much of the newspapers on the floor. We know that Ricci was muddy and so was the Jeep. It sounds like he was protecting his carpet. Anyway, he made a decision to deny he ever had the Jeep which made it impossible for him to explain his behavior at the garage. The motivation behind that decision is why he was under suspicion, along with his other behavior.

Because, as the rabbi's say, coincidence is not a kosher word. If he had been doing something legitimate he would have copped to it and it might have kept him out of jail. If he would have had something legitimate, like a job he did for someone, and not stonewalled them he might not have gotten into the trouble he did. You've need to answer the questions if you can.
Remember Thurber said Ricci borrowed a few bucks to buy some Coronas? I figure that was Ricci they saw on the security video stealing the beer from the convenience store in Federal Heights shortly before the burglary BECAUSE HE WAS BROKE AND COULDN'T BUY IT.

The whole point is... They really do not make seat cover small enough for a Jeep Cherokee rear seat. Are you trying to say that there was no seat cover as his relative claims? Moul has stated that there was a seat cover in the back and that he had put a grease mark on it during a previous visit.

Who are you to figure such a thing with no proof or evidence whatsoever. Why not just stick to what few facts there are available.
