Looks like your horse is doing better today and you're on the right track in his treatment.

As horse owners for over 30 years, my wife and I have seen a whole range of injuries/illnesses. Horses are pretty tough!

No one else has mentioned this, but I hope you were wearing a hard hat when you were riding. You mentioned you bumped your head, and this could have been a fatal injury to you!!!!

Please, wear a hard hat if you aren't already

We used to have horses and they were always getting cut on the barbed-wire. I think I poured Hydrogen Peroxide on them, like I do if I get a cut.

Slosh the wounds with some Betadine Solution or Cut Heal, give him a hug and quit worrying about minor scrapes. You can also cover the just the wound with a cloth, spray bug repellant on the upper and lower leg then take the cloth off. That works good for keeping the bugs away. The leg will stink too much for the bugs to want to get near the wound.

For your ankle, take a couple of asprin, put the ice on for 30 minutes then take it off for 30 minutes, repeat until the swelling subsides.
