I know, its just so hard to lose your dogs...My last three died all died within a less than a year span...they were all around the same age, and I told BigDom, when one went, the others would follow, and it did happen that way...They had spent most of their lives together, and when the first one died, the other day were never the same...it just broke my heart....

Helga, the basset was the last one to die...I had her for almost 13yrs, and when she went, I just mourned her so...

I have always loved all my dogs, and cats, and various other animals, but my Helga, (I hate to play favorites), was my absolute favorite...I never gave her any favored attention, never let the other dogs know she was my favorite...its just drole to me, that somehow God saved taking my favorite doggie to the end...

Now we have Dizzy...but part of my heart still belongs to my Helga....you are so right, when you get an animal, they become part of the family, and you worry about them so and mourn them so when they have to pass on...

Yep.. I try to impress upon my kids and family what it means to get a dog or cat. You just don't get an animal.. You get a member of the family.. You have to realize that when the family wants to go away, you have one that usually has to stay home, and be cared for.

You have an extra mouth to feed.. another person/child to take care of.. You have another family member that will cost you money for illness.

You have another family member that you will no doubt outlive and will cause you lots of heartache when you eventually lose them..

Pets are not something you should think lightly of. It's unfortunate that most people do..

When they leave us it's heartbreak for sure..even for the toughest among us..
