Quix, sorry, but I think the Bible is pretty clear that if a prophet's inaccurate, then that prophet isn't a true prophet. Also, I noticed that SaberTooth's dream and SaberTooth's images show that in the former scenario, the midwest is devestated, and in the latter scenario, the midwest is not touched.

That kind of lax treatment of prophecies lead to Mormonism, JJehovah's Witnesses, etc. Professing to divinely predict future events is a BIG thing, and I'd at least expect a prophet to be completely accurate before taking his word to be God's divine inspiration.

Also, note that Earthquake trends are NOT changing and actually are much lower than the 40s, despite popular radio evangelist urban legends.

Feel free to contradict me.

Sorry, that should've said SaberTooth's dream and 2sheep's images. Also, in reference to 2sheep's images, I don't really remember how subduction can occur in the Atlantic (thus sinking the East Coast) from geology class. Perhaps the East Coast can be pushed up into dramatic Himalayas overnight, but... *shrug*

Just something to keep in mind.

Ask the Lord.......or wait and see!  One thing for sure:  If America breaks up down the middle and goes under water, we'll know Tim Snodgrass was a true prophet, won't we?

I forget the number and refs--will have to wait until I have the time to track them down when settled in NM--but 2-4 examples exist in the Old Test. of great star prophets of God missing it. They were not stoned. Nor were they considered false prophets. They just missed it.

I don't want ATT to get into an extensive thing on this as I have more or less no resources handy and time on the computer can be problematic. However . . .

I think God was talking about someone who is persistently saying things as though from God when God didn't say them. . . persistently wrong.

John Sanford says in--what--The Transformation of the Inner Man??? that prophets in OT times would take their Jr prophets and give them task after task after task THAT THEY COULD ***ONLY**** FAIL AT. . . until they came to the utter end of themselves and relied totally on God. There's little of that extensive sort of training these days. God does it some directly with some few persons. . . .relatively. But 30 years of it I've not heard of even with one person.

AND Christ seems to have instituted a much more BODY MINISTERING TO ITSELF AND OTHERS sort of format wherein we discern and sort with each other what we believe God is saying to us. That forces us to submit one to another as Christ modeled as Servant. I believe many, MANY ministries go off the deep end regularly if not terminally because the leadership refuses to follow that Model Christ and Paul set up--such as I Cor 14 again.

Also, I don't believe it's quite God's timing to have prophets flawlessly speaking forth--I hope I'm wrong and it seems like it's beginning to be God's time--perhaps Timothy Snodgrass is an example. We shall see.

I think we also often miss the focus or purpose of a prophecy and end up nitpicking as scribes and pharisees about this or that petty detail.

Christ had a habit of slicing through all the petty details and preconceived constructions on reality the scribes and pharisees were all wound up about and then Christ would shed a new light on even the core issue they were PRETENDING to be wound up about. I suspect if we want to avoid missing what He's doing in our era--at least on occasion--we may need to consider that tendency of Christ's.

I try to give learning prophets the freedom and grace to learn. Even the traditional Pentecostal denominations have managed such individuals and processes horribly in my view. Sometimes it seems like God is both incredibly careful about minute details that have to be exactly so--and at other times or in other aspects extremely nonchalant about things we think He'd be all fussed up about and that we want Him to be all fussed up about. His ways REALLY ARE (1) higher than ours and (2) beyond finding out. Yet we are to seek to know them more, better and apply them accordingly.

I think it is important for us to have HIS PASSIONS ABOUT HIS PRIORITIES--major in the things He majors in--or has for us to major in--and minor in the things He has for us to minor in. PRIDE ON ALL OUR SIDES can easily be used of satan to foul up such a prioritizing. We see through a glass darkly. He may be shining more light and giving us a clear glass as our era progresses toward the final wind down of history as we know it. BUT I SERIOUSLY DOUBT HE is going to give any one person a corner on revelation, process, understanding, vision etc.

HE EXPECTS HIS BODY TO WORK TOGETHER AS A UNIFIED BODY SUBMITTING ONE TO ANOTHER IN LOVE; LOVING EACH OTHER THAT THE WORLD MAY KNOW. . . . ETC. Otherwise, i doubt the degree of supernatural manifestations will escalate as much as they obviously will according to The Bible.

I suspect all of us will have our even Biblical preconceptions and sensibilities adjusted as we seek to follow Christ, listening to His still small voice; feeding on His Word etc.

Just IMHO.

I REMAIN skeptical of the quake assertions that things have not increased but I haven't had the time to check it out thoroughly.

Thanks for your kind post.
