True enough. But just in the time I've been in Taiwan, the 7.0 and above quakes have seemed to increase in that eastern Ring of Fire area markedly in frequency and raw number the last 15 years.

IF my personal sense living in the area has been at all accurate the last 5 years--even the last 3 years--there's been at least a subtle qualitative change as well though I can't describe it in words. The "character" of the quakes has seemed to change though I can't put words to it.

I was collecting USGS data to put on a spread sheet and do statistics on it but had other priorities and didn't keep it up. I'd love to see that for the last 15 years for quakes 6.0 and above.

Thanks for your kind post.

Macro geology has always been of some interest to me. I believe it explains at few thing.

The tilt of the earth on it's axis constantly changes incrementally. As it wobbles on it's axis the resulting stresses have got to be something else. This changes the under sea flow and arrangement of the warm and cold waters and therefore the weather patterns. ie; the nino and el-nino cycles we are just now beginning to understand.

Then again, some have predicted that a new ice age cycle is beginning. Some have predicted the hand of God.

One thing for sure, we cannot do a thing about it, so enjoy.(with interest ofcourse)
