There's a new way to do HTML now. You don't have to. If you just enter the COMPLETE URL (http & everything), it will automatically make the link for you.

But if you use ANY HTML coding, then it won't work. You have to follow through and be consistent with it all of the way through the post. (i.e., making paragraphs marks, which also are not necessary any more)

But say you use italics or bold HTML, that's an example of using SOME coding that requires everything to be coded.

Does this make sense?
