Well, I should try to get some sleep early tonite, in case those construction trucks start rolling and the workers start shouting at 7 in the morning....boy, they sure are a loud bunch...
Here is another little ditty from Edgar Lee Masters, Spoon River Anthology, one which some of you my be familiar with...
200. Anne Rutledge
OUT of me unworthy and unknown
The vibrations of deathless music;
With malice toward none, with charity for all.
Out of me the forgiveness of millions toward millions,
And the beneficent face of a nation 5
Shining with justice and truth.
I am Anne Rutledge who sleep beneath these weeds,
Beloved in life of Abraham Lincoln,
Wedded to him, not through union,
But through separation. 10
Bloom forever, O Republic,
From the dust of my bosom!
And there end my poetic contributions of the night...
Nitety nite all, see ya all tomorrow...
