I also remember ladies hat stores, they were called millinery stores, complete with mirrors and little individual racks that displayed all the hats so they could be tried on...

We had to wear hats to church on Sunday back then, ya know..:)

me too I remember the ladies hat stores
they were still around on Broadway on Upper West Side of Manhattan when I was in college
I went in and bought a hat there
(I was only customer in shop)
(I never wore the hat)

back then men wore hats too
up in Harlem they had shops for cleaning men's hats
when I ruined my friend's pocketbook, I took it to the harlem shop for cleaning hats
and he was able to restore her pocketbook for me
