Wow! What a great story, Guennie! It sounds as though he is truly a 'new creation.'
I had an interesting Sunday myself. I played the organ, as a substitute this morning, and accompanied my husband and older son who sang a beautiful duet together (husband is a tenor, son is a bass-baritone). It was a Hale and Wilder arrangement of the beautiful hymn "Jesus, I am Resting."
Jesus, I am resting, resting in the joy of what Thou art.
I am finding out the greatness of Thy loving heart.
Thou hast bid me gaze upon Thee, and Thy beauty fills my soul,
For by Thy transforming power Thou hast made me whole.
Ever lift Thy face upon me as I work and wait for Thee,
Resting 'neath Thy smile, Lord Jesus, earth's dark shadows flee.
Brightness of my Father's glory, sunshine of my Father's face.
Keep me ever trusting, resting, fill me with Thy grace.
Jesus, I am resting, resting in the joy of what Thou art.
I am finding out the greatness of Thy loving heart.
After church, husband, son #1 and daughter #2 went white water rafting in West Virginia, daughter #1 is in Indiana, and of course son #2....Eric is in Kentucky.......so I am here all alone for 3 days!
I will either get a whole lot done, or I will spend every waking hour on FR!! Tough choice! :o)
And thanks for what you said....
It just knocks me out what God's grace can do.
...this man is another self-starter (like my son in law).....
..someone who takes life's lemons & makes lemonade (by the grace of God!)...
...he has a natural ability to learn languages, and while in the Air Force, took part in an military exchange, teaching in Germany in the German language, which he speaks fluently, because he persevered in learning the language.
..(this was with the DOD)...
I'm really liking the folks in our new church, and started to feel at home.
Today we turned in our paper work (ie,salvation experience, church history, 'what are our spiritual gifts'...) so we can have our membership removed from Covenant (our old church) to New Life (our new church)
