He died two years ago.He came down with it in 1993.All Pics patients do die.it is a degenerative brain disease that leads to the body shutting down, and his brain now is being used at the London General Hospital, which specializes in brain disease research.Its very rare, so his condition became noteworthy for the medical community.He was also 80.

Bless his heart, it was so very good of his family to donate his brain for study, which hopefully adds to the pooled knowledge that the medical community has on brain diseases...

Still, my calculations come out that he had to live with his condition for about 7 yrs, which is just too long for anyone to have to live with such a devastating thing....

Having seen what brain diseases do, both from my experience in my own family, and my experiences with patients in the nursing homes, all I can do, I hope that someday, these types of diseases will be eradicated or at least become more treatable...they are devastating, not only to the person involved, but to the whole family....
