I am glad you enjoyed moms 'Miss Marble' story...

Poor mom, she was deluded, but she often made me laugh...

The funniest thing she ever did, and it is making me laugh out loud right now, is the way she dressed herself...

For whatever reason, people with Alzheimers or other forms of dementia, are often obsessed with their clothing...I saw this in mom, and in all the Alzheimers patients I have taken care of in the nursing homes...

This obsession with clothing can and does take many forms...some are constantly stripping their clothes off, prefering to remain nude except for jewelry, glasses and shoes and socks...some hoarde clothing, and will actually go into other patients closets and grab their clothes and hide them with their own clothing....some prefer to wear not just one set of clothing at a time, but prefer to wear two and three shirts or blouses and two or three pairs of pants, all piled one on top of the other...and some prefer to change their clothing every few hours....

Mom fell into that last category...she would get up in the morning, I would give her a shower, and then I let her pick out her clothing, and let her dress herself as well as she could...she usually managed to do a fairly good job....

But after a few hours, she wanted to be wearing something different, and she would disappear into her closet, and change her clothes...the thing that made me laugh, was her insistence, that when she wore a blouse that had shoulder pads in them, she wore her blouse inside out, so that the shoulder pads were on the outside...and depending on how big the shoulder pads were, she would look like she was an angel with those big shoulder pads on the outside of her blouse, looking like big wings...she was insistent, that those shoulder pads belonged on the outside of the blouse, and since most of the time we were not going out in public, I just let her wear the clothes the way she wanted....

But I can still see her, sitting on the edge of her bed, with these big shoulder pads, fluttering around, ,as if they were big wings, and her looking so happy about the whole thing...

I had a great uncle like that, he had a form of Alzheimers called Pic's Disease, which is very rare, but its terminal, and he would act very odd with his clothes, wearing a nylon windbreaker next to his skin with a shirt over it, then a tweed jacket...and sleep in his brogues with his tie knotted.

He also used to cut his own hair.Ugh!! And he would walk.....for miles and miles....one night he took the wrong turn and walked for 6 hrs up the major highway....almost 20 miles away and was found by cops almost walking in traffic one morning.A horror show.

hi loddy
I checked out one native american store in tucson to c if they had puma fetish pin for andysmom
they only had one fetish pin, it was rattlesnake
andysmom does not like rattlesnakes
it was fabulous pin tho
they have kachina dolls
does andysmom know what kachina dolls are
it might be something she likes
if they have puma or mountain lion katchina doll
they wont have basset hound
cause I dont think Hopis have bassethound katchinas
I'm sure they do wolf and coyote
the store had navajo silver pins of animals, but I didn't get to see which ones they had
(Bill was waiting in car)
they did have fetishes of every single animal (not basset hound)
Love, Palo
