This is my take on it.
The skin could have mummified within 24 hrs due to her size and weight. The smaller the body, the quicker the mummification.

I don't know how long the mummiologist said it would have talken the entire body to mummify. If an animal created a new opening, mummification became interrupted at least in that area because of the bugs.
