There were police dogs at the scene from the first moments. We've heard that the scent ended at the street. Which street, we don't know. Close to the house or not, we don't know.Wouldn't that indicate they left in a car??

"Another question, don't milkmen wear white or light colored clothing and hats?"
AND aren't milkmen considered trusted members, persons, of a community, neighborhood or places where there are other members or persons? (humor here, in case nobody gets it)

"Lots of things in life don't make sense. This is one area I would not discount without serious investigation."
Except that the women the polygamists want are sort of like docile lap dogs. The men are control freaks. It would be way out of character for them to go after a teenage girl who has been raised outside of polygamy.

I have been careful to phrase my theories without condemning either the family or the police, although I do have opinions about how each might have done things differently to better effect. If the facts prove either the family or the police to be culpable in some material sense, I will be appropriately judgmental. I'm sure that both the Smart Family and LE have made mistakes in their handling of this complex situation. Where we can identify those mistakes is of interest but it provides little as to solving the case. If verifiable facts come to light that show's something beyond some ineptness then of course that would be something to look into.

It would be way out of character for them to go after a teenage girl who has been raised outside of polygamy. Exactly. This is why it is very rare for a woman raised outside of polygamy to become a polygamous wife. Usually the wives are children of polygamists and don't know any other lifestyle. Thanks, whenitgettime, for saying what I was thinking last night and couldn't articulate.
