I agree with that, but repercussions should remain in the context of the situation and between the individuals involved and does not belong in the domain of government interference.

And that is the way it is. There are no "hate speech" laws in the United States. The last one I can think of was the Sedition Act and it was found unconstitutional over 150 years ago, and anyway applied only to hate speech against the government
