As the public schools and home schools have been gearing up for the beginning of a new school year, the number of phone calls to the THSC office have increased dramatically! Some districts have stated to potential home school parents that the laws have changed concerning home schooling or that the parents are required to submit the districts forms before the students can be withdrawn from the schools. NO education laws have changed, as the state legislature has not been in session for the whole year of 2002."
If you are in TX, the THSC advises not to go in person to the school or deal with the officials. Simply send a certified letter of your intent to homeschool, that is all that is required. If they respond requesting anything, you forward their reply to the THSC. They will handle the response.
