Our kids learned about the calendar and nutritional stuff reading the expiration date and nutritional information off of disgarded frozen food packages during family scavenger outings. The looks on their faces as they realized what the word expires meant was worth all the hard work. A family can get really close sitting in a dumpster mouths full of fries trying on shoes.
