Before I offer some ideas on registering people to vote who will vote the "right" way - someone has to talk me outa my anti-government funk from today.
Any takers?
I am a student of history - especially the history of communism - and I do NOT LIKE the little TIPS program OR the ending of the Posse Commitatus (sp?) situation - despite the fact that under this administration, we know we don't have worries about abuse of power. It is not the BUsh administration I am concerned about. IT is the Hitlery administration - should the world cave in and the Witch every come to power.
People must understand - she is a desciple of Stalin.
EVERYTHING that we are doing now that ends personal freedom is one more step down the path to a modern police state - much like the "third way" Communist China with their little laogai nestled out in the countryside with slave laborers and with neighborhood "party" snitches in EVERY corner of EVERY village who reports to the government EVERY move and word that is "unpatriotic" (anti-Communist).
We say it could never happen here - and I understand the dangers that are out there - but it seems NO ONE cares about the plunge day by day to something that will resemble a communist or Nazi country if it is not stopped. All it takes is one ruthless dictator type person. And WE ALREADY HAVE THAT PERSON!!! PERILOUSLY CLOSE TO POWER!!!
So, talk me out of this worry - ok - and then I can regain some enthusiasm for registering right thinking individuals to vote.
Oh, and one more gripe - Dick Armey - who has been a favorite of mine in the past - defending the automatic $5000 pay increase for Congresspeople who only work Tues through Thursday and who take about six months of vacation/holiday time off - including the whole month of August - and they say they need a pay increase. I am not impressed and am this close to saying forget it to the "campaign" for this fall. Not one more penny and not one bit of effort for the governmental "elite" among us. Sorry but that's where I am. Now, talk me out of it.

OK, I'll give it a go:
1) All the TIPS program aimed to do was to get people like the postman and the UPS guy and the cable guy to notice odd things in the neighborhoods they work in - like dirty old men in run down cars scoping out the little girls playing in the park by the school or large deliveries of fertilizer or Ahab the Arab cleaning his AK-47's on the porch. It was not asking them to peak through the windows. It was an honest attempt at utilizing people who are in our neighborhoods every day to be alert -- which is, by the way, something everyone of us has a responsibility to be right now - more alert to the things going on around us and more willing to get involved.
We are under attack. We are in a war. These people, who would call in a tip to TIPS, would not be ratting out your jewish doctor because he's jewish, or accusing HLL of robbing the Zales jewelry store just because she happens to have a closet or two full of jewelry (or shoes). They wouldn't be hauling Teacup off to the big house because she favors one of her pups a tad more than the other 3, and they wouldn't turn me in because I wash and wax my car only once a year.
IMHO, you are overreacting.
Now lets talk about Ian - the tv tonight said that his parents are filthy rich - Newport, Rhode Island kind of rich and that Chelsea marrying Ian would be like moving on up from the Wal Mart to Tiffany's.
We're supposed to expect a wedding for next summer. Oh and they said that he'd been raised by his parents to become a Senator or policy wonk or diplomat. God help him if he's foolish enough to marry into this family. A Clinton pink slip usually comes with a .38.
