Movies or shows I won't watch because of who is in them

Posted on 07/19/2002 7:11:34 AM PDT by robjna

As hollywood continues to beleive acting qualifies you as an expert on current affairs, I find myself not being able to patronize their movies. I once heard a quote that it used to be that fame brought celebrity, but now celebrity brings fame. here is my list of hollywood idiots who I cannot bring myself to watch in a movie or anymore. Lets add yours to the list:

Julia Roberts (top of my list, cannot stand the wench)

Richard Dreyfuss

Cammryn Mannhein

Rosie O Donut

Sharon Stone (not for political views, just a horrid actress)

Rob Reiner (anything he is involved in)

Tom Cruise (stero typical hollywood flake)

Nicole Kidman (see Above)

Bill Maher (enough said)

Help me expand my list

An obscure actress , upon recieving an award, stated that in days of yore, actors were considered rogues and vagabonds, and that we should still considered ourselves in that light. she was insightful beyond her years.

Arnold Schwarzenegger just made my list after finding out he's a social liberal

The way I understand to be a social liberal you have to either be a democRat or a socialist. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a Republican, although he admitted he is not a Conservative. There are several types of Republicans, just as there are several types of Democrats

>>Silliness indeed. You miss a lot of good movies. Watching a movie is not a vote.

It isn't silliness at all. Quite the contrary, to see a movie of an avowed big mouth socialist whose goal is to influence the "ignorant sheeple" into doing as THEY would do only puts money in THEIR pockets. Why make them richer? Hit em where it hurts, and if you believe it DOESN'T hurt them, fine. I'll take the satisfaction of knowing the ten dollars in my purse I can spend on entertainment is still MINE at the end of the day and doesn't belong to THEM!

I don't believe in being a customer of someone who goes out of his way to insult me.

That's exactly how I feel. Imagine if Julia Roberts had referred to blacks, Hispanics, gays, feminists, or some other PC group as "repugnant reptiles"? There would have been a huge outcry. There would have been protests and boycotts. You can bet your bottom dollar she would have been all over the talk shows crying and groveling and begging forgiveness, her career at stake. Nobody would expect members of the insulted group to actually go see her movies! So I don't see why I, as a Republican, should go to her movies and support her career, and the same goes for any other Hollywood idiot who insults my taste and my intelligence.

Geez pretty soon you won't be going to *any* movies! Dontcha know they're 95 percent liberal? I think it's better to go to the movies that present a good conservative story, that might send a better message.

So why should I go to something that I dislike and put money in their pocket?

If you don't like something, you shouldn't see it. But it's still quite narrow minded just to rule out a film just because of the star's political agenda.

You know, I still haven't seen the new Oceans 11. I love the original. Guess I'm afraid of being disappointed.
