If you like romantic musicals, try checking your library for a Nelson Eddy/Jeanette MacDonald movie! They're occasionally dated, and some are pretty stupid, but some of them are really good!

I especially recommend Naughty Marietta (1935), Maytime (1937), RoseMarie (the pic is from that one, 1936), and New Moon (1940). You'll never hear better singing!

However, if you're a realist, and don't know how an orchestral music can be coming from the trees, forget it! LOL!

Well, since you are a music professor, you should know your stuff. I have occasionally caught one of their musicals on the boob tube. The library is a great resource for older films....I had forgotten that...Thanks for the reminder.
