Molly ... we're hoping for rain here too ... my lawn looks like I set it on fire. I resist the urge to water .. as it will come back ... but it's surely not a vision of beauty at the moment!
Northern Yankee ... Yesterday, I was reminded of comments you made regarding the sacrifices which had to be made during WWII ... saving toothpaste tubes ... gas rationing. I had to get a refill for my grill's propane tank. Went to the hardware store and was confronted with a sea of useless tanks ... now that we've had to switch to the newer ... more environmentally friendly ones.
I asked the guy what will be done with the old ones ... remember ... there were scores and scores of them ... he said they were all going to the ~~~ landfill?!
What a waste! There's enough metal there to build a battleship ... for goodness sake.
Well ... *prayers* to ALL y'alls ... and to ALL y'alls' alls ...
illstillbe... I don't get it. We preach about recycling, and then they want to throw away those containers? Amazing!
Am finishing up the book Black Hawk Down. I am amazed at the courage our boys of Delta Forces, and the Rangers showed, while facing overwhelming odds!
Clinton's complaint about that whole operation was that he'd been ambushed because he wasn't informed of the operation to arrest Adid's top aides. I reckon if he hadn't treated the army with contempt he might have found himself in the loop. (Course then.... who can ever believe what this slug says anyway!)
On a lighter note, I went in yesterday to have my shoulder worked on. (Rotator cuff... I thought only pitchers got that.) The receptionist I met has 2 sons in the U.S. Air Force, and she was so darned proud of them both. (And so she should!) I told her of my experiences in the Air Force, and I bet we talked for an hour. She loves this Country, and her family, and talks proudly of how the armed forces have transformed her sons into men.
I left there feeling even prouder of what a great Country I live in; where we have men once again in charge of calling the shots, people who again display their flags proudly, and parents that are honored that their children are serving in the Armed Forces!
I also think of you all, who are the life's blood of this great Country. You make it work, without fanfare, by your commitment to doing a tremendous job everyday, whether it be in raising your families, ar working at your place of employment.
I am honored to know you all!
